Emmaus Lutheran Church ELCA Orange City FL Emmaus Lutheran Church is a member of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). Emmaus Lutheran Church began as a small mission congregation in 1979.

A Charter Roll was opened in September 1979 and three months later was formally organized by Dr. Yount, then president of the Florida Synod. Emmaus remains a member of the Florida-Bahama Synod today. The current church was completed in 1983. Emmaus is a member of the ELCA (Evangelical Church of America). The church offers two weekend services, Saturdays at 5:00 PM and Sundays at 10:00 AM. Services

are streamed online as well. In addition there is an Adult Bible Study at 11:00 AM which meets in Fellowship Hall as well as on Zoom. While the congregation, may be slightly older it is very active and community minded offering a Food Pantry on Tuesdays and a Stephen Ministry to assist those in crisis. We are always looking to welcome families that are looking for a friendly church and bring new ideas that will help us grow as a church and an asset to the community. There is a privately run preschool on the campus, Emmaus Lutheran Preschool which operates year round.

For anyone who may have missed the e-mail notification:

John Trittschuh passed away peacefully with his beloved Susanna at his side on Saturday May 9, 2026. His funeral service will be held on Saturday May 16 at 11am at Emmaus Lutheran Church 2500 S Volusia Ave Orange City FL. A light lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to Emmaus Lutheran Church or to the Michael J Fox Parkinson’s foundation. www.michaeljfox.org

John was a true man of faith and service. He will be missed by many.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today.
