Jesus Gives the Great Commission

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the

Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;

and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The disciples were to baptize people because baptism unites a believer with Jesus Christ in his or her death to sin and resurrection to new life.
Baptism symbolizes submission to Christ, a willingness to live God’s way, and identification with God’s covenant people.

Sharper than any two-edged sword

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your Word,
which gives me a place to stand when
all else in my life is unraveling.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Let the multitude of isles be glad!

Clouds and darkness surround Him;
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

A fire goes before Him,
And burns up His enemies round about.

His Lightnings light the world;
The earth sees and trembles.

The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.

God’s Love
