December will be 2 years ago I lost focus for a split second and as a result I lost 3/4 of my left thumb. In the time after my mind and body has continued to know that something is now missing in my life. As a result of this deformity I rub what is left subconsciously almost all the time. We are also born into this world with a deformity, but not of mind and body but of heart and soul. And we "rub" it as well with all the things the world tells us will satisfy it. I'm thankful this morning I've found what really satisfies the deformity of the heart and soul. :14

While navigating stairs with coffee in hand at a client's office I was reminded of an important lesson I learned from my childhood pastor. One Sunday afternoon during my mother's choir practice I almost ran into him while carrying a very full cup of water. He stopped for a moment and said, "son...its far more important to watch where your going instead of what you are carrying." Sometimes in life we get so focused on all the things we are trying to carry that we forget to look where we are actually going and can find ourselves somewhere we didnt at all intend to be. I was talking with a close friend yesterday afternoon when I was reminded of a conversation I had with my father about a year ago. I was very upset and expressing to him what I felt like at the time were some pretty "serious" worries. He wisely suggested I give those worries to God. He paused and when he continued he said "but Matt when you truly give them to Him, you can't take them back. You have to give them up once and for all." I imagine that this picture is a good representation of what our lives could look like " if we truly" have our worries and concerns to God. God Bless.

The family below could desperately use the healing found in time spent near Gulf Coast waters and Orange Beach/Gulf Shores has always been one of their favorites. If you're interested in helping make this trip a possibility for the Carr family please DM me....and keep reading.

Allison and Seth Carr have been married around 8 years, have two kids Ella and Deacon and live in Guntersville, AL. On Sept. 11 Seth went to his normal workout that morning. Around 6:45am he went into cardiac arrest and collapsed at the gym. He was rushed to the hospital and placed in ICU. The next evening due to kidney failure and collapsed lungs Seth tragically passed away. He was an amazing husband, a devoted father to two wonderful kids, an avid outdoorsman, a deacon of his church and most importantly a believer in Christ. Seth was a man loved by many and admired by even more for his daily Christian example. Please Please help this trip become a reality for the Carr family.

There’s a storm brewing!!

This July 4th a best friend insisted we bring our boat out to attend a flag dedication ceremony on Bird Island. I’m so thankful he did. While a Gulf Shores band member played taps I watched him (a marine) stand at attention with a soldiers gaze never wavering from that flag. In that moment It was impossible to hold back the tears as I thought of his time served and all of the fallen soldiers that this beautiful flag represents. That morning I was reminded as Christians and Americans the ultimate sacrifice has been twice paid for us all both in an attempt to give us freedom. One being earned through citizenship and the other freely given if we only accept it. I’m so thankful today I live in the land of the free, the home of the brave founded on Christian principles and ruled by a God of mercy and grace. :9-10

Yesterday while swerving side to side trying relentlessly to see what was up ahead I realized that lately my Christian walk has been very similar to being stuck behind an oversized pickup truck in a traffic jam. Instead of being still and waiting to see what God has in store I’ve been running off the road and crossing into other lanes to see around him. Gotta keep it between His lines. :4
