The Goodness of God
June 7, 2026

Today's Scripture
[What would have become of me had I not] believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!
Psalm 27:13, AMPC

My friend, when David was a teenager, he was stuck out in the shepherds’ fields, taking care of his father’s sheep. He had a big dream for his life, but nobody paid attention to him. David could have been discouraged, but today’s Scripture says he believed he would see God’s goodness when all the circumstances were against him. He was confident that he would leave his mark despite how long it had been, despite who didn’t believe in him.

The Scripture says there’s a set time for God to favor you. There are marked moments when God has planned to suddenly promote you, suddenly turn it around, suddenly open the door. For David, that happened when the prophet Samuel showed up at his home and anointed him to be the next king. David was saying, “If I hadn’t believed in God’s favor, I wouldn’t have been anointed by Samuel, wouldn’t have defeated Goliath, outlasted King Saul, and taken the throne.” You can rest knowing that God has already lined up the breaks, the protection, and the promotion to take you into your destiny.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You have set times when You show me Your favor in special ways. Thank You for the absolute confidence I can have that if I keep moving forward in faith, I will see Your goodness. I believe that You will amaze me with what You have planned. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Permission to Be Happy
June 6, 2026

Today's Scripture
Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always).
1 Thessalonians 5:16, AMPC

My friend, the apostle Paul says we should be glad-hearted, always happy in the faith. He didn’t say anything about our circumstances. He says to be happy whether people treat you right or not, whether your plans work out or not, whether you have many disappointments or none. He was saying to get in a habit of thinking joyful thoughts. Don’t let the negative circumstances talk you out of living happy.

But you have to give yourself permission to be happy. Sometimes we’ve bought into the lie that we’re not supposed to be happy. We’ve been through too much and have made too many mistakes. If we’re happy, we think that other people may not understand. But God created you to enjoy your life, to laugh and smile. Happiness starts inside. Give God something to work with. If you want to live happier and healthier, every morning you need to say to yourself, “I’m blessed. I’m grateful. I will be happy.” You can’t receive happiness if you’re thinking sadness. Joy is coming every morning. You will live happier if you start thinking happier.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I can be glad-hearted and rejoice in all circumstances today because You are always in control. Thank You that You created me to enjoy my life and to be blessed and happy. I am going to keep a song of praise in my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Times of Doubt
June 5, 2026

Today's Scripture
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
John 20:27, NIV

My friend, Thomas was one of Jesus’ disciples. He traveled with Jesus, saw His miracles, and was taught by Him. Yet when Jesus rose from the dead, Thomas doubted. Jesus didn’t hold that against him, but came to him that he might believe. In a similar way, John the Baptist baptized Jesus, saw the heavens open and heard God say, “This is My beloved Son.” Yet when John was discouraged in prison, he told his disciples, “Go ask Jesus if He really is the Messiah.” After seeing all the incredible signs, you would think John would believe. But Jesus didn’t hold that against John. He understood what John was going through and reassured him that He was the Messiah.

We all have times of doubts, times when we’re discouraged and worried, wondering, “I don’t understand this. I don’t see how this promise from God can work out.” But don’t get locked up in that mindset. Be vulnerable and honest about it, just as Thomas and John were. Ask Him for help, remember what He’s done in the past, and believe what He is saying to you.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I don’t have to hide my weaknesses, doubts, fears, or shortcomings. Thank You that Your power goes to work in me when I am honest. I humbly admit that I don’t have it all together but I’m glad You’re still working on me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Wisdom and Discernment
June 4, 2026

Today's Scripture
What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us…we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:12, 16, NIV

My friend, the apostle Paul warned the Corinthians to be on their guard lest the enemy deceive them and lead them astray. He was saying that you have to recognize the enemy’s lies and schemes. The enemy can be convincing, but you have the advantage. Because you have the Holy Spirit inside, you have the mind of Christ. The Spirit of truth will check every lie that would try to stop you. Every morning, it’s good to pray that God will give you a spirit of wisdom and discernment. Pray that you’ll have wisdom that comes from knowing God’s Word and make decisions that honor Him. Discernment has to do with recognizing where a thought is coming from, what’s right and what’s not. God’s still small voice inside will alert you to things that are deceptive. It may sound and look fine, but the Spirit of God will rise up in you and you’ll feel a check, an uneasiness. Something says, “It’s not right.” When you’re sensitive and listen to that inward witness, that’s the Spirit of truth revealing the lies. God will always speak to your spirit.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit to be my helper, my counselor, and my guide. Thank You that You’ve promised to lead me on the right path. Help me to be discerning of any distracting voices. Help me to be sensitive to hear how You are speaking to me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Do You Like Yourself?
June 3, 2026

Today's Scripture
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:39, NIV

My friend, one thing that holds us back from seeing changes in our life is when we don’t love who we are. If you’re not happy with the way God made you, there’s a constant battle going on inside—never feeling good enough always feeling wrong, with vague feelings of disapproval. If you don’t learn to like yourself as you are, weaknesses and all, you’ll always feel like you should be better. Added to the problem is that you have to live with you. You can never get away from yourself. If you don’t like yourself, life is going to be miserable.

It’s very powerful when you can say, “I like myself. Yes, I need to improve in some areas. I need to do better. But I’m at peace with who I am right now. I accept myself. I approve myself. I am not a finished product. God is in charge, and He’s still working on me, making me and molding me. It is not just up to me. I’m going to relax and enjoy life while God is in the process of changing me.”

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for making me in Your image with gifts, talents, and abilities to enjoy life and accomplish Your will. Help me to love myself, with all my weaknesses and shortcomings and things I wish were different. I declare that I am happy to be who You made me to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Faith Increased
June 2, 2026

Today's Scripture
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
Luke 17:5, NIV

My friend, when Jesus told His disciples they were going to have to forgive someone who wronged them seven times a day, meaning to continually forgive, their immediate response was, “Lord, increase our faith!” They knew that based upon the opposition and the offenses that Jesus faced, they would face the same. They didn’t say, “Lord, increase our faith so we can do bigger miracles, and increase our faith so we have a larger vision.” They asked Him to increase their faith so they could forgive the wrongs, let go of the offenses, and keep the toxins out.

Sometimes it takes more faith to keep your heart free from impurities than it does to accomplish a dream. We’re praying for faith for a breakthrough, faith for a new level, and that’s good. But have you ever prayed, as these disciples did, “God, increase my faith so I can let go of the hurts. Increase my faith so I can forgive the person who betrayed me. Increase my faith so I can keep my heart pure and move forward with my life”? That’s a key to living free.
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You have an abundance of power to increase my faith for whatever I need. Thank You for Your love and grace that are mine. Right now I let go of the hurts and offenses and wounds of the past. I declare that they have no power over me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Nothing Lost, Everything Gained
June 1, 2026

Today's Scripture
So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon.
Genesis 41:14, NIV

My friend, for thirteen long years after Joseph’s brothers betrayed him, he was enslaved, lied about, mistreated, imprisoned, and forgotten. Given Joseph’s environment, the dream that God gave him of leadership and the identity that he was going to do something great could have easily been lost in bitterness. But rather than play the victim, Joseph was faithful to be his best, and the day came when God suddenly turned things around and made him the ruler of Egypt.

We all have opportunities to lose who we really are. You go through a relationship breakup, a job layoff, or a financial setback, and thoughts will tell you, “You’re not valuable. Nobody wants to be around you. You’re nothing but a failure.” People will tell you to be content and make the most of it. Don’t take on that defeated identity and let it change you. What happens to you is not who you are. You’re a masterpiece. You’re made in the image of God and crowned with favor. Keep trusting Him, and you’re going to break out of the dungeon and be brought to the palace.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that what so often looks like a setback is really Your hand moving me toward Your purpose. Thank You that what’s wrong is going to push open doors and bring opportunities I could never experience without it. Help me to keep trusting while You work things out. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Who’s Walking with You?
May 31, 2026

Today's Scripture
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
Luke 24:27, NIV

My friend, on the Sunday after Jesus was crucified, two of His disciples were walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They were so discouraged and sorrowful that Jesus was gone, that their hopes and dreams were shattered. They were so focused on what didn’t work out, this great disappointment, that they didn’t recognize the risen Jesus who suddenly joined them in their journey and conversation. In that incredible moment, He began to explain to them all that the Scripture had predicted about Him, how He would be crucified and rise from the dead on the third day. It wasn’t until later that day that they realized their seven-mile walk had been in the presence of the risen Savior.

How many times on our daily journey are we not recognizing what God is doing? We’re so caught up in dealing with problems, trying to fix our finances or our family or an illness, that we don’t see all the good things God is doing in the present moment. Don’t be so focused on what’s wrong that you don’t recognize that Jesus is walking with you through it all.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are walking with me and working in my life every day. Help me to not be so focused on today’s challenges that I miss the good things that You’re doing in this present moment. Open my eyes as You did with these two disciples so that I can see. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
