Don’t forget—you’re a kid, too! You are a child of God, and
he loves you even more than you love your kiddos. (That’s
a lot!) What’s one thing you can do to connect to God’s
lovingkindness for yourself today?

And don't forget, our Summer Celebration Family Service is Tuesday July 1st @ 6pm!

“The prayers of God’s saints strengthen the unborn generation against the waves of sin and evil. Woe to the generation of sons who find their own censers empty of the incense of prayer, whose fathers have been too busy or too unbelieving to pray.” E. M. Bounds

Here is this weeks questions parents. Just like this week lesson, an invitation needs to be given. Talk to your kids about Jesus. This week's question will hit on the topics of God's Kingdom, dealing with rejection when sharing the Gospel with others, and who we can share Jesus with. All important things for the Christian life! Grab a bible and your family and have a talk.

1) Why do you think Jesus compares God’s kingdom to a wedding feast?

Read Revelation 19:6-9.

Discuss how the kingdom of God is a place of joy, abundance, and goodness. Remind your kids that our world is broken because of sin and we have sadness, pain, and death. Tell them that God’s kingdom will become the new heavens and the new earth where we will be joined to Jesus forever.

2) How should we respond when we share the gospel and people reject it?

Read Matthew 5:11-12.

Answers will vary. Discuss how it can be discouraging to share the gospel and people choose to reject it. Remind your kids that many people rejected Jesus while He was on earth and yet He still told people to believe in Him. Encourage them to be faithful to share about Jesus, knowing they are working for the Lord and not people.

3) Who can you share Jesus with? Who do you know that hasn’t yet accepted Jesus’ invitation to believe in Him for salvation?

Read Romans 10:10.

Answers will vary. Remind your kids that the servants in the parable went and told people inside the city and people outside the city about the wedding feast. Tell them that all people need to have an opportunity to be invited to trust in Jesus because without hearing the gospel they cannot be saved.

Here is this week's questions parents. Grab your family for 5 minutes around the table or on the commute and talk to your kids about the Kingdom of God. This weeks topics will hit on the value of God's Kingdom, what we may have to give up for the Kingdom, and our part we can have in the Kingdom.

1) Why is God’s kingdom so valuable?

Read Revelation 21:3.

Tell your kids that the kingdom of God is valuable because it is where God rules and reigns for
all eternity. Explain that it is also valuable because all those who trust in Jesus will be saved
from sin and death and be able to live with God forever. Explain that God’s kingdom is full of
joy because Jesus is there.

2) What might we have to give up for God’s kingdom?

Read Philippians 3:7-8.

Answers will vary. Tell your kids that living for the kingdom of God means being willing to give
up worldly ways and sometimes even good desires because we treasure Jesus more. Explain
that sometimes we may need to give up friendships, comfort, sports, wealth, and so on to
demonstrate that we treasure God’s kingdom most of all.

3) How can we participate in the growth of God’s kingdom?

Read Matthew 9:37-38.

Answers will vary. Discuss how we have many opportunities to participate in the growth of
God’s kingdom such as sharing the gospel, helping the poor, giving our money, praying for
others, enduring suffering with joy, serving as a missionary, inviting people to church, etc.
Encourage your kids to seek ways to contribute to kingdom growth this week.

TEACHING TO TABLE
No Code 9 this week parents. We taught the story of the prodigal son yesterday. If your child wan't able to make it yesterday, it would be great to read Luke 15 to them and answer these 3 questions. These questions are for your kids to be led by you. These are the best questions in our curriculum. They inspire deeper conversations about Jesus and the Kingdom of God. This week's questions should take you into topics such as being lost in sin, the importance of repentance in regards to salvation, and understanding God's Love for us. Grab your family and spend 5-10 minutes well spent!

1) How was the older brother just as lost in his sin as the younger brother?

Read Luke 15:28-30.

Discuss how the older brother dishonored the father through his pride and selfishness. You’re your kids that the older brother revealed that he thought his behavior and service was enough to please his father. Remind them that the older brother refused to celebrate his younger brother’s return and accused the father of being unloving toward him. Help them understand that the older brother also needed to repent and trust in his father’s love.

2) Can we be saved without repentance? Why not?

Read Luke 15:7.

Lead your kids to understand that trusting in Jesus means that we recognize our sin and want to turn away from sin. Help them understand that self-righteousness, like the Pharisees showed, reveals that we think our behavior or our present standing is enough to please God. Remind them that we can only please God by faith and repentance is an act of faith.

3) How does the father’s love toward his sons help us understand the love God has for us?

Read 1 John 4:10.

Explain that the father showed love through forgiveness, mercy, and an invitation to join him at the feast. Encourage your kids to remember that God loves each of them and invites them to trust Him by faith in Jesus.

CONCEPT TO CONTEMPLATE
"But putting on the liturgical lens allows us to lift that cloak and see what is happening when we don’t think anything is happening. The liturgical lens allows us to see all of our normal moments for what they really are: moments of worship to someone or something. This pushes us to ask, “What exactly are we worshiping when we suppose we’re not worshiping anything at all?”
