Daily Message for Sept 6th:
Today’s Scripture: John 8:31-36
Before you buy a used vehicle or a house, it’s wise to have an inspection. If there are faulty brakes in a car or mold in a home’s basement, you want to know, right? The truth can help you avoid making a costly—even deadly—mistake. Truth protects us.
This principle applies to our spiritual life too. In today’s passage, Jesus said, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (vv. 31-32). The Jews were confused. They were, after all, Abraham’s descendants and had “never been enslaved to anyone” (v. 33). Jesus told them that everyone is a slave to sin but that He came to set them free. And He sets us free too.
The truth of the gospel allows us to enter into a relationship with our heavenly Father. Then, as we read and study God’s Word, His truth becomes more and more ingrained in our heart. We become so familiar with it that we’re able to recognize wrong teaching. Biblical truth provides guidance, wisdom, strength, courage, comfort, and faith. Living in God’s truth lets us experience the life He wants for us—a life of joy and freedom. How has truth protected and liberated you? Amen.

Daily Message for Aug 24th:
Today’s Scripture: 1 Peter 1:22-23
Preparing a garden—cultivating the soil, watering regularly, managing the weeds—takes time and effort. But a gardener spends the least amount of time doing what is perhaps the most important task: choosing and planting the right seeds. Today’s passage applies that experience to cultivating Christian love.
In the upper room, Jesus gave His disciples a “new commandment, that you love one another.” His people, He said, would be known by their love (John 13:34-35). This deep kind of love doesn’t grow naturally from the human heart. If we are to see love grow in our life, we need better seed.
As Peter says in today’s passage, fervent love for one another comes about when we are born again from the only “imperishable” seed—“the living and enduring word of God” (v. 23). It’s easy to read “word” here as “the Scriptures,” but as John’s gospel tells us, Jesus Himself is the Word (John 1:1-4). He is God’s Word of mercy and new creation, the source of our new birth.
But God has also given us His written Word to remind us of His work in the world and in us. Remind yourself today and every day of God’s work in you, cultivating the fruit of love through a fresh meeting with Jesus and through reading the Bible. Amen.

Daily Message for Aug 12th:
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 25:14-30
Have you ever tried to do something you haven’t done for a while, such as ride a bike, play the piano, or speak French? You may have been surprised to find yourself stumbling a little. When we don’t regularly practice a skill, we can start to lose proficiency.
Similarly, if we don’t exercise regularly, we lose muscle strength. Some machines start to rust and break down without regular use. Food and medication have a limited shelf life. You know what they say: Use it or lose it.
It’s not enough to identify our spiritual gifts—we have to use and be good stewards of them. God gave us our gifts for a purpose. The Parable of the Talents clearly shows us what happens when we “bury” what He’s given us: We not only dishonor Him; we also miss out on the joy of fulfilling our purpose and experiencing the abundant life Jesus promised. (John 10:10).
Parents take pride in seeing their children grow in mind and body through the years. In a similar way, our Father in heaven delights to see a humble heart that is ready to serve Him (Col. 3:22-23). Don’t miss this moment with Him—how will you use your gifts to serve His kingdom today? Amen.

Daily Message for Aug 5th:
Today’s Scripture: Numbers 13:1-33; Numbers 14:1-45

You’ve probably heard that the Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, but do you know why? Because in their fear, they doubted God’s call. He had intended for the Israelites to finally inhabit the Promised Land, but when Moses sent spies to scope it out, they reported, “The people who live in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large” (Num. 13:28). The Israelites became afraid and mistrusted what the Lord had said. As a result, they didn’t reach the land of milk and honey.
One of the reasons we, like the Israelites, often question what we’ve heard from God is the fear of failure. Feeling afraid is a normal, human response, but it’s also an internal cue that it’s time to do two things:
1. Investigate what is going on inside: What is scaring you? How do you think God views this situation? How do you believe He’ll respond to your feelings?
2. Connect with the Father. You are always safe to share your fears with God—He wants to know about them.
It’s the Lord’s desire that we move through life with confidence and assurance in Him (2 Tim. 1:7). Whenever fear tempts you to change course, take a moment to pause, look inward, and talk to God. Amen.

Today’s Scripture: Romans 12:1-2
In the Old Testament, sacrifice was a means of atonement. When a person sinned, he or she brought an animal to the altar, and through its death, reconciliation was accomplished. What, then, does today’s passage mean when Paul urges believers to “present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice” (v. 1)?
Thankfully, there is no need for our blood to be shed; Jesus took care of that when He died on the cross for our sins. Instead, what Paul means is that our lives should be surrendered to the Lord. A surrendered life involves commitment. It’s a decision to defer to God’s will and His Holy Spirit instead of following our own preferences. Every aspect of our being—body, soul, and spirit—is to be a living sacrifice.
Though this may sound dreary, true freedom and joy are found when we yield to Christ. The Lord promised His followers that abundant life comes from losing ourselves in Him (Matthew 16:25). Psalm 16:11 says it best: “In Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”
Becoming a living sacrifice sounds like a tall order—and it is. But it’s a call we face with Jesus by our side. Remember: He is our constant companion and wants to help us. Amen

Something to Think About – from Pastor Jay for July 29th:
Listening to the Spirit
In Revelation 11, God has John measure the temple and place boundaries around the temple. I believe this is not talking about walking around a physical temple with a tape measure but about God placing protective measures around the people of God, who are His temple. Here God is assuring all of His children that Satan and his demons cannot touch us because we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of God.

Even our enemies who persecute us cannot touch us; they may destroy our bodies, but they can never touch our souls. They may destroy the outer temple, our bodies, but they can never destroy the inner sanctum, our souls. We are safe in God's sanctuary. We are safe in His protective boundaries.

However, we must be vigilant against the enemy still. One of Satan's cruelest strategies is to masquerade as the Holy Spirit and accuse us in our thoughts. Because he is a counterfeiter, we must learn to distinguish between the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the accusation of Satan. If you want to live in victory, you must be able to make the distinction.

The Holy Spirit urges you to repent and turn to God; Satan beats you down and tries to keep you away from God, saying, "Well, you've sinned. You might as well stay in sin." When you hear the voice of Satan, change the channel. Begin to praise God for His salvation. Begin to praise God for His redemption and grace. Go to God in prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to send Satan scurrying, and He will. Amen.
