What do you do when God doesn't do what you want? In Mark 6:45-56, the disciples find themselves confused, frustrated, and caught in the middle of a storm. Just moments after witnessing the miraculous feeding of the 5,000, Jesus sends them away while He dismisses the crowd.

Why? John's account reveals that the people wanted to make Jesus king by force (John 6:14-15). They wanted a Messiah who would fulfill their agenda. The disciples likely shared many of those expectations.

Instead of giving them the kingdom they wanted, Jesus sent them into a storm.

Jesus performs miracles not to give attention to the spectacular, but to the point to himself as the one who came to save. the way the truth the life!
In Mark 6, we encounter two striking events.

John the Baptist, a faithful servant of God, is unjustly executed at the whim of a wicked king. Soon after, Jesus miraculously feeds more than 5,000 people with just a few loaves and fish.

Why would God allow one and perform the other?

Mark's Gospel reminds us that God is working even when evil appears to prevail. The death of John the Baptist shows us that faithfulness does not always lead to earthly comfort. The feeding of the 5,000 reminds us that Jesus is the compassionate Savior who provides what we truly need.

Jesus' miracles were never merely about the spectacular. They pointed to His identity and mission. He came to save sinners and give eternal life.
