What is “Reformed”?
“Reformed” churches are Christian churches that worship and serve Jesus Christ. The label “Reformed” is taken from the Protestant “Reformers” of the 16th and 17th centuries on the European continent. They are called "Reformers" because, seeing that over time their churches had strayed from some of the Bible's central teachings, they worked hard to call their churches back to t
he Word of God. The Bible, God’s holy Word, is the supreme authority in our church. There are many Reformed groups of churches in the United States and around the world. And these Reformed churches are part of an even larger family of historic Protestant churches (Lutherans, Anglicans/Episcopalians, and Presbyterians). We are a member congregation of the United Reformed Churches in North America. Our church was founded over 90 years ago by some Dutch immigrant families who moved into the Ontario area. These families were descendants of the original Reformed Church in the Netherlands, which the Lord had blessed tremendously with His grace and truth. Today, our church is made up of men, women, and children from many different ethnic and even religious backgrounds.
