The ground beneath Moses’ feet became holy not only because God was present, but because God had a purpose there.

God had seen the suffering of an oppressed people. God had heard their cries. And God called an imperfect, uncertain person to help lead them toward freedom.

God still meets ordinary people in ordinary places. God still opens our eyes to suffering. God still calls us to genuine love, courageous justice, generous hospitality, and faithful service.

When we wonder, “Who am I to do this?” God’s answer remains: “I will be with you.”

Join us this Sunday as we consider what it means to answer God’s call from holy ground.

“Who do you say that I am?”
Surrounded by monuments proclaiming the power of Caesar, Jesus asked his disciples a question that still confronts the church today. Will we follow the way of domination, fear, and exclusion—or the way of Jesus: compassion, justice, abundance, and life?
This Sunday, we will remember Shiphrah, Puah, Jochebed, Miriam, Pharaoh’s daughter, and Peter—ordinary, imperfect people who used the gifts and power available to them to become part of God’s work of liberation.
Faith is not merely something we believe. Faith becomes visible in the way we live.
Refuse to cooperate with cruelty.
Use the gift you have been given.
Open the doors entrusted to you.
Show the world who Jesus is.
