Good morning, if you are an early morning riser, tomorrow morning Captain Matt Anderson from Troop 1839 (Houston Texas) will be live on the radio on the morning show called A Catholic Take with Joe McClane to talk about Troops of Saint George.

You can hear the show at 4AM PST on Stations of the Cross iCatholic Radio App, or on Youtube or Rumble. You can also catch the replay.

Joe covers current events for the morning and has very interesting guests to talk about church events and church culture. Joe is passionate about the Catholic Church and is an avid supporter of the TLM.

Joe is a good friend of mine too. We retreated together in Montana in 2020 on the Into The Wild Retreat with Mark Houck.

Troops of Saint George #157 - Virgo Potens!

Father and sons, we are having a Parish Meeting on June 8th at 1300 hours at San Secondo d'Asti.

We will have two Marines coming to our parish to talk about what it's like being devout Catholics while serving in the United States Marine Corps. They will also 0talk about their job duties, being prepared and the importance of achieving rank.

Come early at 1200 hours and enjoy burgers and french fries. $5 Donation.

For our activity we are going to build shelters from a tarp, hiking poles and 550 paracord which you can buy at Harbor Freight. We are going to learn two crucial knots.

They say "if you don't know how to tie knots, then tie lots of them!" Lol

Two knots we are going to work on is the Taught Line Hitch knot (so that your tents don't blow away lol) and the
Bowline knot which is used in boating and rescue work or just about anything.

Please bring these things to the meeting:
- Hiking Poles
- Tent Stakes (harbor freight)
- 550 Paracord
- Plastic Tent Mallet or Hatchet with hammer (Something to pound the stakes in, ideally something you would carry in your backpack)
- Cigarette Lighter (no smoking, used to singe the paracord)
- 5x7 tarp at Harbor Freight ($2)

Please join us on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) Eucharistic Procession at San Secondo d'Asti Catholic Church on June 2nd at the 12:30PM Mass. The cadets will have the honor of carrying our nations' colors behind our Lord.

After that join us for Strawberry Lemonade ($5), Churros ($2), and Handels Ice Cream! We will also have knife sharpening for $10. We are trying to raise money for Troop equipment and needs.

Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful mothers that are the heart of the families and work hard in the background keeping us men and their boys on task and on time for Troop events. We are forever greatful!

The cadets here built bird houses as a gift for their mothers.

May God Bless all the mothers this day and many days of their lives.

Some updates for this weekend of March 8-10. God Bless you all and hope your Lenten Season has been a transformational one.

This Friday March 8th we will be assisting the Knights of Columbus
in the Lenten Fish Fry at San Secondo d'Asti Church. The troop Captain will be there so if you any questions regarding membership, please come on by and at the same time order up some fish tacos!

The Knights have been very generous to TSG #157 and at last month's meeting they voted to donate March's fundraising proceeds to the Troop for families in need to help pay dues and or uniforms. We are forever grateful for the the KofC Council #12938 who help get us started by sponsoring our initial chartering fee.

Please come by the fish fry and help support our troop and fellowship.

March 9th we'll be at Norco College at 9AM as the Cadets will learn about machinery, tooling, and design from one of our dads.

March 10th the Knights of Columbus will be serving Breakfast Burritos. Troops will also be assisting.

Troops, welcome to the Lenten Season. May God bless your Lenten journey through your prayer, fasting and alms giving as in today's Gospel reading.

I came across this image when searching something for Lent to post and I thought it was fitting for us given our troop motto.

As Father Stanley said in this morning's homily: "Lent doesn't go through us, but we go through Lent with a loving devotion to God through reverence, worship and obedience."
