“For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”Matthew 16:25
What are we trying so hard to protect that we would disobey God to keep it?
A platform? A paycheck? A friendship? A reputation?
Something temporary.
Something passing.
Something that will not matter five seconds into eternity.
Christ is worth more.
More than being understood, accepted, and praised.
More than keeping our place in a world that already hates His authority.
It is easy to say Jesus is worth everything when following Him costs us nothing.
But the testing comes when truth gets expensive. When obedience threatens comfort.
When faithfulness risks total rejection.
That is when the human heart is exposed.
Jesus was despised, slandered, mocked, spit on, beaten, and crucified.
Because He would not bend to the lies of men. He exposed darkness. He called sinners to repent.
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.” John 15:18
So why should we expect a better treatment than our Master received?
Christ has never asked His people to lose anything for His sake without promising something far greater in return.
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:10
We all know what it is to feel tempted to stay quiet. To avoid saying what needs to be said. To protect ourselves and then call it wisdom.
But there comes a point when silence is not humility. It is fear. And there comes a point when love must open its mouth.
The world needs Christians who love Christ more than they love themselves.
Christians who know that it is better to lose this world with Christ than to gain its approval without Him.
May it never be said that we clung to dust with both hands while treating Christ as though He were worth less.
Forever, Christ is worth more than all this world could ever give, and far more than it could ever take away.
