For Sunday Morning Service here at UUSO, each student has selected an animal that adapts to survive changes in its environment. They will share information about their chosen animal with the congregation, along with a meaningful message about what we, as humans, can learn from these adaptations and transitions. Our children have been putting tremendous effort into costumes, music choices, dioramas, animal facts, and a skit that we are all very excited to share with everyone! We hope to see you there!

Humans are just one of many types of animals that share Planet Earth. For much of modern human history, we have often exploited and killed many of our fellow creatures. There are now many reasons to reconsider our understanding of other-than-human animals and our relationship with them. We will have to change our behaviors so that all creatures will be able to thrive into the future and that we can live up to the UU shared principle of fostering the interdependent web.

Join us this Sunday as we explore these ideas. Curious about UUSO? Check out our website: uuso.org

The mainstream definition of liberation theology is a Christian one that focuses on how society thinks about economic, social, and political oppression, set against the backdrop of the Americas. Asian liberation theologies explore these same ideas of freedom from different cultural contexts. Join this Sunday as we explore the many facets of Asian Liberation Theologies.

Stoicism is a practical philosophy of the self: Self- awareness, self-reflection, and self-control. 'Even though we can't control time or external forces or events, we can control how we use our time, what we choose to focus on, and who we choose to be with.

This Sunday, join our worship leader, John Nader, this weekend as we explore this topic. John Nader is the former president of Farmingdale State College. He served in local elective office for 16 years, including one term as mayor of Oneonta. He is currently writing a book on the history of Oneonta's immigrant Sixth Ward.
