Travelling Church: Detroit

While UUSO is part of the larger UUA community, we often forget there are other churches out there. There is a lot we can learn from how other congregations run their services, so we will be bringing those services to UUSO occasionally during the coming year. This week we are visiting the Greater Detroit UU Collective for "Labor Day", led by Rev. Julie Brock.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Dennis Fowler on Thursday, July 30, at 2 PM. The service will be followed by catered reception. Dennis had a small family and circle of friends so we hope that UUSO members and friends will attend the service to honor Dennis who supported our congregation and many local non-profit organizations.

This Sunday at UUSO: Join our member, Mary Ruhoff, who will share a sermon called "The Four Elements". Our western culture owes a lot to the ancient Greeks – their literature, math, architecture and philosophy. Mary will be sharing her thoughts about the four elements that the Greeks said make up all matter – air, water, earth and fire – and how these may relate to some Bible verses. All are welcome and we hope to see you there!
