We were at Gargatha Landing to watch the Antares shuttle launch at 12:40 pm today, and we prayed for the success of this unmanned resupply mission, which is also carrying experiments to the ISS.

We are a small, growing community of people on Virginia's Eastern Shore exploring fellowship in Jesus while opening our arms to all. Yes, all are welcome: every ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, age, class, immigration status. We are all one in Christ's love.

Inspired by words crafted by Faith Lutheran Church in Salisbury, MD, here is our message of welcome.

"O Holy Night" started as a French hymn in 1847, and when it was translated into English in 1855, the song became especially popular in the US with abolitionists because of these words in the third verse:

"Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is Love and His gospel is Peace;
Chains shall he break, for the slave is our brother,
And in his name all oppression shall cease,
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful Chorus raise we;
Let all within us praise his Holy name!
Christ is the Lord, then ever, ever praise we!
His pow'r and glory, evermore proclaim!"

This Christmas, may we all experience the true freedom of Christ our Liberator and Redeemer. Amen!

We hear all about the joy and celebration, but Christmas can also be a time of sorrow and grief.

That's the spirit behind a "Longest Night" service-- to come with these emotions to God and be comforted in God's presence, knowing we're not alone.

Please join in this Longest Night online service tonight if you would like: all are welcome.
