-Read the introductory pages of the Parent's Guide (pgs. 98-106)
-Also, read the attached "Background Reading" and review the attached Lesson Outline for ideas on how to incorporate the lesson into your family's schedule!
Step 2: Complete the Lessons with your family! Place the Fridge page (Parent Guide, pg. 101) on your Fridge and the Car Conversations hanger (Parent Guide, pg. 103) in your car as a way to remember to continue the conversation with your family the whole month through.
Complete at least 3 activities per lesson. There are 2 Family Story Book activities this month. Feel free to complete one or both! The Family Story book activities are on pages 114 & 115 of the Parent Guide
Step 3: Celebrate the Epiphany!
Your Catholic Home: Epiphany Jan. 6 PG: pg. 100 & 101 "Long after the rest of the world has packed Christmas away, Catholics celebrate the real meaning of the holiday well into the new year! An especially beautiful celebration takes place on the Feast of Epiphany. On this day we commemorate the Magi’s visit "
A traditional way to mark the Epiphany is a blessing of your home. Pray: “The three Wise Men, Casper, Melchior, and Balthazar, followed the star of God’s Son who became human two thousand and (say the last two digits of the year) years ago. May Christ bless our home and remain with us throughout the new year. Amen.” Then use chalk to write above your front door “20 + C + M + B + 19.” This example is for 2019- the first and last numbers are the first two digits and the second two digits of the year. The letters have two meanings. First, they are the initials of the three Magi: Casper, Melchior, and Balthazar. They also stand for Christus Mansionem Benedicat, which is Latin for “May Christ bless the house.”
Step 4: Challenge of the Month
Set aside 5-10 minutes each day to read scripture and to pray together as a family
Step 5: Complete the Following Survey and Reflection Questions:
If you haven't yet completed the survey from last month, please do so this month! I truly appreciate your feedback!
Complete the following Reflection Questions once you have completed the Lesson! This tells me that the lesson was completed.
