It was a joy to be with the people of Our Catholic Family of Parishes last Sunday at St. Ludger Church in Creighton, as I installed Father Marcus Knecht as their pastor. I am grateful for Father Knecht's willingness to shepherd this family of parishes, and for the faithful of Creighton and the surrounding communities who welcomed me so warmly. Please join me in praying for Father Knecht and for all the people of Our Catholic Family of Parishes as they begin this new chapter together. May God bless them in the years ahead.

It was an honor to present the Catholic Charities of Omaha Board with the Apostolic Blessing of Pope Leo XIV at the Century of Hope Gala last Saturday. One hundred years of serving the vulnerable in our archdiocese is a legacy worth celebrating — and I am grateful for their leaders, staff, and volunteers who carry that mission forward each day. As Catholic Charities begins its second century, may it continue to serve as the hands of Christ to those most in need.

Jesuit Academy celebrated the beginning of its 30th school year today with a Mass of the Holy Spirit at St. John Catholic Church on Creighton University’s campus. I was pleased to celebrate this Mass and meet several Jesuit Academy students. Please pray that these young men will have a successful school year and grow academically and spiritually.

It was great to meet with Nebraska Officers of the Knights of Columbus on Tuesday. The Knights strengthen our parishes, and I am grateful for the ways they form Catholic men to live their faith and reach out in mercy to their communities. May God continue to bless their ministry. Blessed Michael McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus, pray for us!

Last week I traveled with 24 of our seminarians to the Archdiocese of Chicago, where we visited St. Raphael Church in Lake County. I was pastor of St. Raphael (2016-2020), with a beautiful church made from the stones of a closed Chicago church and wonderful folks who are “the living stones” of the parish. Please pray for our seminarians as they begin a new academic year in the seminary.

Last Sunday, I offered Mass with the people of the Family of God parishes as I installed Father Taylor Leffler as their pastor. Father Leffler has faithfully served as administrator for the parishes of St. Francis of Assisi in Humphrey, Holy Family in Lindsay, Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Clarkson, St. Mary in Leigh and St. Michael in Tarnov for the last year. May God bless him and the faithful of the Family of God parishes in the years ahead.
