What a joyful and meaningful day as we celebrated the ordination of Rev. Daniel Zapata! Thank you to everyone who came out to support, encourage, and surround Daniel with love and prayers as he begins this new chapter in ministry.

Your presence helped make the occasion truly special and served as a beautiful reminder of the strength of community and faith working together.

Please join us in continuing to pray for Rev. Zapata as he moves forward in his ministry journey. We wish him God’s blessings, wisdom, and encouragement in the important work ahead. Congratulations, Rev. Zapata — we are excited to see how God will continue to work through your life and leadership!

Around the world, millions of people are facing food insecurity caused by conflict, climate disasters, displacement, economic instability, and deep inequality. Yet hunger is not simply about a lack of food. It is about access, justice, dignity, and the systems that shape who is able to flourish and who is left vulnerable.

At Week of Compassion, we are grateful to partner with local churches, community organizations, and humanitarian partners around the world who are responding every day with courage, creativity, and compassion. From climate-resilient agriculture programs in Southeast Asia, to refugee support in the Middle East and Africa, to community-led recovery efforts after disasters, these partners are helping families not only survive, but build sustainable futures.

We believe communities closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions. That is why we are committed to accompaniment, locally led response, and long-term resilience.

On World Hunger Day, we invite you to pray, learn, advocate, and give as we continue working toward a world where every person has enough — enough food, enough safety, enough opportunity, and enough hope.

Stay Informed!

FEMA funding is down and requirements to qualify for disaster relief are becoming more stringent.

This is an opportunity for us to prepare for the inevitability of natural disaster as we may no longer be able to count on the Federal Government for assistance. Will you help us to answer the call?

This is "Proposed Changes in Federal Disaster Response" by Week of Compassion on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

Donald Claud Wilson was born in 1923 in North Platte, Nebraska to parents who were the children of Nebraska homesteaders. He was raised in Omaha where he lost sight in one eye due to a childhood accident.

After ‘squeezing four years of college into six’, he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska. Like many of his depression generation, he understood the importance of work and spent his forty year plus career at the Omaha Public Power District.

As a father, he was a PTA president, a Boy Scout leader, and a champion of his sons’ education, always stressing education as the highest priority. Don is a lifetime ‘pillar’ at First Christian Church where he has served as a deacon, elder, board chairman, and trustee. He was instrumental in starting the church foundation. He remains a fit octogenarian who loves to dance.
