Let's start the week off with the Prayer of Pope Leo XIV to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Lord, I come to Your tender Heart today,

to You who have words that set my heart ablaze,

to You who pour out compassion on the little ones and the poor,

on those who suffer, and on all human miseries.

I desire to know You more, to contemplate You in the Gospel,

to be with You and learn from You

and from the charity with which You allowed Yourself

to be touched by all forms of poverty.

These are the promises Jesus made to those devoted to his Sacred Heart:

*I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
*I will bring peace to their families.
*I will console them in all their troubles.
*I will be their refuge in life and in death.
*I will bless all their undertakings abundantly.
*Sinners shall find in my heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.
*Tepid souls shall become fervent.
*Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection.
*I will bless those places where the image of my Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated.
*I will give priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.

As you head into the weekend, take a minute to read Sunday’s Gospel (Matthew 9:36—10:8) today. Don’t wait until Sunday to hear it for the first time. By preparing now, we promise your worship experience will be better.

Get out your journal and record your responses to the following:

*Describe a time when it became clear to you that you could make a difference in someone else's life. How did you make that difference?

*Describe an experience when someone helped you recognize your worth and value.

*What does Jesus mean when he says, “The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few”? Why are there so few laborers? Why does God want us to pray for more vocations? Why doesn’t he just give them automatically?
