Are you or someone you know interested in becoming a Catholic or learning about the Catholic Faith?

The OCIA program at St. Elizabeth Ann is beginning soon on Thursday, September 10th. OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults. It is the program of preparation which assists adults from other faith experiences and persons who are not fully initiated into the Catholic faith to learn about the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.

Attending the classes does not obligate you to join the Catholic Church, it merely provides you a way to learn, grow, and decide if you want to. For further information, or if you want to register, please contact the Program Director, John Christensen, at 402-740-5915, or [email protected].

This weekend, we will be giving out FREE copies of Pope Leo XIV's new encyclical, "Magnificent Humanity." The subject of this work is the safeguarding of the human person in the time of artificial intelligence, an extremely important topic. Pick up your copy after any of our weekend Sunday masses in the back of the church!

It is very fitting that Pope Leo is praying for "evangelization in the city" this month. There's still time to get involved with our parish's local evangelization effort this fall! We will be hosting the "ChristLife" program, which is a great opportunity to come together as a parish in order to follow Jesus's invitation to share our faith with others.

There will be an information session tonight at 7:00pm in the Parish Center, where you can find out more about this new program. You can also visit stelizabethann.org/christlife for more details.

Pope Leo XIV’s prayer intention for the month of August is for evangelization in the city.

“Roughly half of us live in cities. Jesus himself walked city streets, in Cana, in Jericho, in Jerusalem, and just as in those cities Christ is present in ours — teaching, praying, celebrating, but also suffering among the poor, the forgotten, the imprisoned," the Holy Father said in a video released July 31 on X.

He added: “This month, let us pray for the courage to recognize him [Jesus] there and through our work and witness to bring the Gospel to the streets and homes of our metropolises.”
