“I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.” -1 Corinthians 3:6 NLT

In early church days, the Corinthians were trying to divide themselves between different teachers. Paul reminds them that though different leaders planted and nurtured the gospel seed in their hearts, it was ultimately God who drew them in and made the seed grow. From the moment we first hear the gospel, we are being nourished by pastors, teachers, worship, prayer and fellow Christians. But when we grow in our faith, it’s imperative to remember that God gave that growth.

Prayer for you: Loving God, thank you so much for the gospel that was planted in my heart. Thank you so much for every person that has watered and nourished that seed throughout my life. Help me to plant the seed of the gospel in every heart that you provide an opportunity for me to do so. Help me to nourish those around me as I myself have been nourished. Most of all help me remember that the growth is your job. Thank you for continuing to give growth in me. In Jesus name, Amen.

“I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws.” – Psalm 119:59 NLT

Everyone comes to a point in their lives when they stop and ask, “Where am I going?” Whether you’re in a bad spot or not, you still question if your life is going in a good direction. When following God’s laws, you never have to question it. He gives us a lot of commands throughout Scripture, all of them for our benefit. If you aren’t sure that you’re headed in a good direction, choose today to turn around and follow His laws. Then you can be certain that you are going somewhere good.

Prayer for you: Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the commands you gave me in your Word. Please guide me as I seek to follow your laws, turning me away from the traps of the enemy and steering me in the direction of your prosperous blessings. Give me the confidence to know that I am walking the right path because I am choosing to follow you, even when life’s storms come my way. Thank you for walking beside me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

"But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you." -Luke 6:27-28 NLT

Out of all the commands God has given us, this is one of the most difficult to obey. It goes completely against our nature to give love, kindness, and forgiveness in response to hate, rudeness, and persecution. But God instructs us to do it because something wonderful happens when we show love to our enemies. They get to experience the love of Jesus. As we live out God's love to others, we give them a chance to meet Jesus for themselves and discover the same hope that saved us.

Prayer for you: Gracious God, please empower me to show your love and forgiveness to those who hurt me. Help me to show grace and understanding to those that hate and persecute me. Remind me that I was once your enemy and you chose to show me love rather than punishment, so I should do the same to those I consider my enemies. Fill me with so much of your love and grace that it spills onto all those around me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
