A few quick reminders as we head into the holiday weekend:

🕯️ September’s Taizé service has been canceled.

🎒 Children’s Sunday School is on pause this week while our teachers prepare for our Open House Sunday School Kick-Off on September 13th. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

🏢 The church office will be closed Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day and will reopen Tuesday, September 8th.

But we’ll still be here Sunday morning! Join us for worship, music, and community as we lift our voices in song and praise and kick off a whole new month of Dolly with Morita.

It’s a low-key holiday weekend. Perfect for slowing down, catching your breath, and spending a little time with your worship community. We hope to see you Sunday!

Thank You for Making Music With Us! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on the North Patio last Saturday, August 29th, for Play Music on the Porch Day 2026!

Pastor Morita and a mighty crew gathered together to sing, raise our voices, and simply enjoy the gift of making music with good people. From familiar favorites to “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” we were reminded of all the things music can bring into our lives: light, freedom, flight, and joy.

And what better way to end our time together than with “Dona Nobis Pacem” sung in the round, turning our voices into a shared prayer for peace.

Sometimes we just need to step away from the noise, breathe, sing, and remember what it feels like to be part of something together. Ah, what music can do for our souls.

Thank you to everyone who came and shared the music of your voice. We are so grateful for this beautiful community and the many ways we find joy, connection, and peace together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Sunday, August 30th, as we gathered for the final Sunday of August and brought our “Considering the Children” sermon series to a close.

Throughout this series, we’ve spent the month listening more closely to the stories, wisdom, courage, and faith of children while reflecting on what they can teach us all about following God and living out Christ’s love in the world.

We also had the joy of celebrating our students, teachers, and school communities with our Blessing of the Backpacks! As a new school year begins, we sent our kids out with prayers, love, and a reminder that they are surrounded by a community that believes in them and will walk alongside them.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this a meaningful end to a wonderful month of worship, learning, and community. We are so grateful for all the children who bring their curiosity, joy, and wonder into our church family.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Sunday, August 23rd, for another beautiful morning of worship, music, and community!

We continued our “Considering the Children” sermon series with “When Children Lead,” inviting us to think about the wisdom, courage, and leadership children bring into our communities and our faith.

Our Chancel Choir blessed us with a beautiful performance of “One Small Voice” by Jeff Moss, reminding us that even the smallest voice can make a difference. We also heard another moving stewardship moment from Denise Rogondino, reflecting on the many ways we can share our gifts to support the work of our church.

Thank you to everyone who gathered with us! If you missed the service, you can watch it here: https://fumcomaha.org/consider-the-children-when-children-lead/

And don't forget to join us this coming Sunday, August 30th, for our Blessing of the Backpacks! Bring your backpacks, your school supplies, and your hopes for the year ahead as we bless our students, teachers, and school communities.

We can't wait to see you there!

A huge thank you to our Salt & Light Team and Mayor John Ewing Jr. for joining us on Sunday, August 23rd, for a wonderful conversation about faith and civic engagement.

It was a meaningful opportunity to come together, listen, learn, and explore what it means to put our faith into action, not just within our church walls, but throughout our city and our community. What a beautiful reminder that civic engagement can be an expression of our faith and our commitment to building a more compassionate, connected, and just community.

If you missed the presentation, don't worry! A recording will be available soon, and we'll share it as soon as it's ready.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped make this conversation possible.

Thank You, Dundee!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday, August 22nd, for Dundee Days! We marched, handed out candy, and spent the day connecting with our neighbors.

This year, we also asked our neighbors a simple but powerful question: “What gives you hope?” We loved hearing your answers and being reminded of all the people, places, and little moments that keep hope alive in our community.

To paraphrase Mr. Rogers: It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood to get out and greet our neighbors. And we're so grateful to everyone who helped us bring a little FUMC Omaha joy, love, and laughter to Dundee.

Thank you to everyone who marched with us, volunteered at the booth, handed out candy, stopped to chat, or simply waved as we went by. We loved seeing you!
