We sent this out in a an email, but we thought we'd post it on this page as well.
I am sorry I am sending this out a little later today. Lately, I have been thinking of all of the parenting examples in the Book of Mormon. There are a lot of really great ones, Lehi, Alma the Elder and Younger, but one that stood out to me lately was Abish's father.
If you can remember, Abish is an awesome woman who spread the word of the miracle of King Lamoni. (Alma 19:16-17) She knew what was happening because many years ago her father had a miraculous vision. I wish we knew more of that story. I wish we knew what her father saw, but what we do know is that he taught his family and helped them gain a testimony. Man, that would be hard. He had a vision and they could not (as far as we know) do anything about it. But Abish knew. And when she knew it was time, she courageously ran from house to house to tell people in so many words to "come and see".
However, whenever, you teach your kids about the Gospel of Jesus Christ is good. I know a lot of us who are over wanting to be physically distant, and all the zoom meetings, totally feel you there. But I hope you have been able to teach your children in your home about the truths you know, no matter how simple they are.
Abish's father may not ever have known what would come, but without Abish we would have a different story. The Anti-Nephi-Lehis may not be the transforming group we know them as now, all because he shared an experience that helped him grow closer to Christ. Like I said before there are countless examples of really wonderful parents in the Book of Mormon, on all ends of the spectrum. And I hope you know what a wonderful job you are doing. However, whenever you are doing it, you know if it is right for your family. We love you, we are praying for you, we miss your kids more than we can even say and look forward to the day we can gather together and "come and see" the miracles that happen because of the gospel in the Primary room.
This month's songs we are practicing are: Faith page 96 and My Heavenly Father Loves Me page 168. We also have some really fun Pioneer songs, Sister Hawkins posted some awesome ideas and Nala gave a super awesome talk today, both are on the Fontenelle Ward Primary Group, so just scroll down :)
Please let us know what we can do for you and your families.
Love,
The Primary Presidency
