The good news and encouragement that the Apostle Paul gives his friends in Ephesus is overwhelmingly focused on God and His works. “For we are His workmanship, created-formed in Christ Jesus on/upon good works, which God prepared beforehand, that in them we would walk—tread all around especially as proof of ability.” There is a new and different hope in the truth that God is revealing Himself by miraculously opening our eyes to the work that He has done and is doing in our lives--deep within our hearts and minds. Sermon from 1 March 2026.

Paul's words from Ephesians 2:10 gives liberating hope by clearly emphasizing the good Work of God. Immediately after declaring that salvation was a gift of ...

Some of the best words of Scripture are found in Ephesians 2:8-9. "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast." Sermon from 22 February 2026.

Most people don't experience themselves as a person who boasts. As soon as you hear the word "boast," usually pictures of that certain arrogant person you us...

What do you value/treasure the most? It is real easy to say "God". But, if you are honest with yourself, you will see that the treasure you desire the most is not God. Paul's prayer request in Ephesians reveals that a miracle has to take place to realize that the Greatest Treasure is God Himself. The daily struggle to obtain the "lesser" treasures in life and the consistent disappointment that they actually bring provide the opportunity to see and desire the true Treasure found in Christ! Sermon from 8 February 2026

"The Greatest Prayer Request of All Time! "

Have you ever wondered if some prayer requests are better than others? The Bible shows us, through the Apostle Paul, that there is one prayer request that is the Greatest prayer request. Knowing God and valuing Him is of utmost importance. And Paul knew that the battle raging in the minds of Christians is centered on treasuring the things seen versus treasuring that which is more valuable than anything: the Unseen Treasure of God Himself. Pastor Don Brewer preaches from Ephesians 1:15-21, Summit Lake Community Church, 1 February 2026.

Most people like to believe that the story of Job is about a man who stood firm in his faith in through extreme suffering. But, most people haven't read all of the words of the book of Job. The story of Job is actually about a good God who stays with a man experiencing a crisis of belief as he tries to understand his extreme suffering and God's part to play in it. It is a story that shows how God is the One who is faithful even as He listens to the man who has "words without wisdom". And what is the point?! Who wants a God who allows bad things to happen to "good" people? The story of Job shows us how God patiently and lovingly renews the mind of Job so that Job actually believes God really is patient and loving despite and even because of what He allows. The lesson of Job can be life-transforming. Sermon given at Summit Lake Community Church on 25 January 2026.

Knowing God is a life-long journey. Over the past couple of weeks we have been looking at the process that God has each of us in as He teaches us about His Goodness. Ironically, His Goodness is shown as we go through the "storms" caused by our own thinking. Trials, suffering, wanting life to be different all trigger thinking that reveal how much (or how little) we value God and His plans for our lives. Pastor Don walks through Hebrews 15:5-6 showing how God CAN give us contentment in everything we go through as He makes us aware that He is actively renewing our minds through the struggle. Sermon given at Summit Lake Community Church on 18 January 2026.

God has each of us in a dynamic, fluid process through which we can know Him better. The process isn't blatantly obvious until it is! Building on the previous sermon "Hope in the Midst of the Storm of Human Thinking," pastor Don Brewer explains how God is revealing Himself to us through Scripture and normal everyday thoughts. And, as we know God better, the result is peace and contentment. Sermon given at Summit Lake Community Church on 11 January 2026.

Does the book of Job highlight the faith of Job or the Faithfulness of God? Don Brewer III and Jeff Pierce discuss life-changing truths found in the story of Job's suffering and the revelation of a compassionate and merciful God. Highly recommended for those familiar with suffering and have thought through the many logical questions about God's involvement in what seems to be unfair and unjust life events.

More than anything else, we need rescue from ourselves, from our fallen thinking, and from our opposition to God. And, God, in His amazing love and mercy, pu...

Happy Thursday everyone!

Sermon link from January 4, 2026 is up!

This sermon gives insight into how our normal, everyday thinking reveals what we believe regarding God and lays the groundwork for understanding the process that God is using to help us to KNOW Him in a different and incredibly hopeful way!

The Scripture passages discussed in the sermon provide a framework for understanding how God is helping us to REST and be content in Him. I highlight how normal everyday thoughts like, "This isn't fair," "this isn't good," and "Things should be different" reveal how we aren't believing truth regarding God and His involvement in what He is allowing in our lives.

This does not mean that it wrong to want something different and better. I plan to explain this more this coming Sunday! You CAN have hope in the storm of human thinking!

The Bible has a lot to say about the thoughts that we think. Most people don't believe that they think "bad" thoughts about God. That is because, rarely, do ...

Once again, we are starting the year with a focus on what the Bible says about Knowing God. While most people understand knowing God as merely an intellectual activity, Scripture shows us that knowing God is the result of learning new and more information about Him as we experience Him daily. In other words, getting to know God is a process that helps us to actually see God as valuable within a real relationship. And, Knowing God for Who He truly is really does impact your life every second of the day!

Most Christians will agree that "knowing" God is the most important purpose in life. However, "knowing" God is usually understood as merely informational. In...
