The Global Methodist Church held the first ever plenary gathering of annual conference representatives to finalize the episcopal areas for 2026-2032 on May 30.

In the Global Methodist Church, bishops act as general superintendents of the entire church and are elected at General Conference. Approved at General Conference 2024, the election processes are intended to ensure that bishops are both effective global leaders and strong missional fits for the conferences they will most directly serve.

As directed in paragraph 604 of the “Book of Doctrines and Discipline,” this historic meeting brought together one laity and one clergy member from each annual conference. The group of 97 representatives voted to approve eight episcopal areas across the globe.

Join us in praying for the area committees on episcopacy as they begin their work to prayerfully consider and evaluate the episcopal nominees for the future of the Church.

There are moments in the life of the Church when the most important thing we can do is to seek the Lord together in prayer.

As we look ahead to our upcoming Annual Conference and the Global Methodist Church General Conference, we believe this is one of those moments.

Beginning June 1 and continuing for 90 days leading up to General Conference, we are setting aside this time to seek the Lord together humbly, expectantly, and with hearts fully surrendered to His will.

This is not about adding one more thing to your schedule.
This is about returning to Jesus, to His voice, to His leading.

Today, the ACE Plenary Gathering convenes. Through His servant Isaiah, God has said, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9). Our God has repeatedly sought to teach His people to depend on Him. When His people were thirsty, He provided water from the Rock (Exodus 17:1-7). When His people were hungry, He provided quail and manna; however, remember that God instructed them to gather only enough for that day or a double portion to cover the Sabbath (Exodus 16:1-36). Jesus taught us to pray for “our daily bread”; our daily needs that Jehovah Jireh would provide (Matthew 6:9-13). When God sent Gideon against the Midianites, God decreased Gideons army from 32,000 to 300 before God would deliver the Midianites into Israel’s hand (Judges 7:1-25). God wants His people to depend upon Him. We must depend on Him. Holy Spirit brings to remembrance these Truth from God’s Holy Word: 1) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6), 2) Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22), 3) Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me (Luke 9:23), & 4) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7). Let us surrender the ACE Plenary Gathering to listen to God’s thoughts and seek His ways over ours.

Jehovah Jireh,
Provide us with Your oneness, Your vision, Your wisdom, Your discernment, Your thoughts, and lead us forward in Your ways. We surrender ourselves, our Plenary Gathering, Our Episcopal Areas, Our Episcopacy, and Your Global Methodist Church to You. Jehovah Nissi, let us lift high the cross as Your banner that we might be united in following You through Jesus and Holy Spirit with our eyes fixed upon You. As we cast all our cares upon You, carry them for us. As we trust in You, grant us wisdom and direct our paths. We seek You and Your will for Your Global Methodist Church. Father, we are no longer our own, but thine. Put us to what thou wilt, rank us with whom thou wilt. Put us to doing, put us to suffering. Let us be employed by thee or laid aside for thee, exalted for thee or brought low for thee. Let us be full, let us be empty. Let us have all things, let us have nothing. We freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal. We surrender all that we have and all that we are to You. In the blessed name of Yeshua HaMashiach, we pray. Amen.
