Buk and Jangoo Korean Drumming and Dance

Montgomery County

The Peace Mission Korean Dance Group specializes in the rhythms of traditional Korean drumming, including those of the buk, or barrel drum, and the jangoo, or hourglass drum. Master Joung Sook Park Chae appears today with her apprentice, Joseph Cho.

평화선교무용단(단장 박정숙)이 몽고메리 칼리지 락빌 캠퍼스에서 열린 2017 월드 페스티벌에 참가, 전통 춤사위와 신명 나는 우리 가락을 연주해 큰 박수를 받았다. 지난 15일 열린 행사에서 무용단은 화관무와 강강술래, 부채춤, 설장구와 북, 탈춤 등 다양한 장르의 한국 전통문화를 소개했다. 참가 학생들은 김나리, 김지윤, 김나혜, 김나은, 강다혜, 김정은, 서윤아, 이태연, 이서진, 조하은, 조예은, 조연재, 우선헤, 우지민, 이정은, 이에린, 임진아, 최해주, 최해주, 최연주, 이가을, 제이든윤, 정준영, 임유진, 김하늘, 김현섭, 조현기, 조승원 등 30여 명이다.
