St. John's annual Parish Picnic is this Sunday, August 30th! We welcome everyone to share in community and good food. Just like recent years, we will have an assortment of Bar-B-Que items from Origins BBQ & Grill. Plan to join your friends, and soon-to-be friends, for food and fellowship to mark the beginning of the new program year, and ask one of the clergy how you can be involved.
It is only August and the momentum is just beginning – our parish-wide calendar can help you keep track of every event, rehearsal, meeting, and so much more. Click on the calendar link on our website (or the link tree in bio!) and there you will find a new calendar format that we believe will help keep you better informed.

Church does not take a vacation; we just look a bit different in each different season.  Stay informed, volunteer, participate, and join with our St. John’s community as we come together to celebrate, break bread, and do God’s work in the world.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

St. John's Episcopal Church welcomes you to our annual Blessing of the Backpacks this Sunday!

On Sunday August 23rd, during both our 8am and 10:30am services, we will kick-off the new school year by blessing backpacks and recommencing our youth group.

At St. John's, we use the term “backpack” liberally, and will bless bookbags, diaper bags, briefcases, and all manner of satchels. So bring whatever sack you carry at this stage in life. This liturgy serves as a reminder that when we venture to school or work, God is with us.

We hope to see you there!!

Final photo dump from Journeys to the Holy (night 4)!

On our fourth and final night of VBS we all wore our newly tie-dyed shirts, made colorful sand candles, had a plentiful potluck dinner followed by an array of delicious desserts, grouped into multi-generational teams to complete a playground obstacle course, walked meditatively through the labyrinth, and ended our night with unity in song.

It's clear that the memories made at Journeys to the Holy will hold a special place in the hearts of our participants for many years to come. Speaking of years to come... mark your calendars for VBS 2027! Tentative plans are already being made for next year July 26-28th (updates to come!)

Thank you enormously to everyone who helped brainstorm, plan, set-up, tear down, and make this year's VBS a wonderful experience 🙌

Photo dump from VBS Day 3!

It's been almost a month since VBS and what wonderful memories were made.

On our third journey together, we meditatively crafted prayer journals, sang songs (almost now, by memory), had a meal of beans and rice, scoured newspapers to find relevance to holy themes, played a precarious game of trust (Jenga), and came together to pack a month's worth of beans and rice for our neighbors in San Mateo.

Gathering in community, prayer, and a whole lot of fun, what an extraordinary night!
