Because worship is not centered on us...
it is centered on Him.

His worthiness never changes.
And our worship shouldn't depend on changing feelings.

Copied: Tonight we had a wonderful service! The Lord blessed us with another opportunity to stand and sing, and He used Tyler Gaulden to preach a powerful message. Best of all, we got to see a soul saved. That’s what it’s all about!

There was something that happened after the service that really stayed with me.

The church had prepared a meal for everyone, and after we finished eating, I went back into the sanctuary to start packing up our equipment. There was a man in there cleaning. He told me he does it after every service. He wasn’t just picking up trash—he was vacuuming and carefully cleaning every part of the church.

As we talked, he said something I’ll never forget:

“I try to keep my house clean, but this is God’s house. It ought to be kept up more than anywhere else.”

That simple statement touched my heart.

He may not realize it, but what he’s doing is a ministry. Not everyone is called to stand behind a pulpit or sing on a platform, but every act of service done for the Lord matters. Many of the things that keep a church running happen behind the scenes, where very few people ever notice.

If you teach a Sunday school class, greet people at the door, clean the church, run the sound booth, mow the grass, prepare meals, or serve in any other way, thank you. God sees what others don’t.

Never think the little things you do for the Lord aren’t important. Anything done for Him, with the right heart, is ministry. And the Lord never overlooks faithful service.

Prepared to Answer

Today’s Passage
Colossians 4:2–6

Highlighted Verse
“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
—Colossians 4:6

Most of us want to share our faith. We want to know what to say when someone needs prayer, asks a hard question, shares a burden, or gives us an opportunity to point them to Christ. So how do we prepare for those moments?

Paul tells us it begins with prayer. Before he says anything about open doors, walking wisely, or knowing how to answer others, he calls believers to continue earnestly in prayer, being watchful and thankful. He reminds us that following Christ begins with walking closely with Him. As we seek Him, our hearts become more aware of His work, more thankful for His faithfulness, and more ready for what He places before us.

That also helps us understand why Paul asks the church to pray that God would open a door for the word. He knew those opportunities were in God’s hands, not his own. As we remain close to the Lord, we can trust Him to open the right doors at the right time and give us the wisdom to walk through them.

At the end of this passage, Paul turns our attention from the opportunity itself to the kind of person we should be as we walk through it. He reminds us to walk in wisdom toward those outside and to make the most of every opportunity, because people are watching the way we live, the way we talk, and the way we react long before a conversation about Christ ever begins. A patient spirit, gracious words, genuine humility, and a life that reflects Christ prepare us for the opportunities God provides.

Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that preparing to share our faith begins long before the opportunity comes. Draw us into a deeper walk with You, and teach us to seek You faithfully in prayer each day. As we spend time with You, continue to shape our hearts through Your Word and help us grow in wisdom, grace, and humility so our lives reflect Christ well. As You open doors for us to speak with others, give us discernment to know how to answer each person with words that are gracious and seasoned with salt. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
Copied: Joy, a fruit of the Holy Spirit never stands alone. Among its companions are faith & wisdom. It is often experienced as the result of seeing God at work. Since God‘s presence is a place of joy, restoration to his fellowship is attended with joy. In this passage, joy is preceded by obedience. Obedience to God‘s purpose results and joy that detractors cannot diminish. Submissive saints today can expect similar joy through obedience to God‘s word and dependence on the Spirit of God.
