DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?

Do the cares of this life weigh upon you?
Has the burden of sin got you down?
Are you longing for someone to turn to?
Are you trying to find solid ground?

Do you think that God won't forgive you?
Has your life not turned out as you'd planned?
Well, allow me to introduce myself
Then perhaps you'll understand

I'm a thief who hung next to a carpenter
I'm the woman who stood at the well
I'm a man whose name was legion
Whose life was a living hell

I'm a jailer who washed the Apostles’ stripes
And fell on my knees to confess
I'm a tree- climber named Zaccheus
Who worked for the I.R.S.

I am a young Jew named Saul
And, yes, I'm the one who stood
And watched as they murdered young Stephen
A man so faithful and good

I'm a hot- headed fisherman named Peter
And three timed I denied
The one I called my Master
As they led him away to be tried

So, I guess by now you're beginning
To realize who I am
I am but a lowly sinner
Washed clean by the blood of the Lamb

So take heart, for no matter what you've done
You can still be made free
And if you think your sin's too bad
Then just remember me
