Be careful what you wish for. Be careful how you wait. Wise advice for those of us who claim to seek the Lord. Wise advice for anyone. Because what we long for is seldom right. When we judge with the same thoughts as everyone else, we are easily misled by something that looks good on the surface but will not ultimately rely on the Lord. Are you willing to wait on His answers? Will you trust what He says? Or will you take matters into your own hands and be angry when it works out differently than you imagined?

Be careful what you wish for. God may give you what you want, but our wants are often wrong. Just because others have something doesn't mean it's right for us. Yes, we want to ensure things work out the right way in the long run, but for that to happen, we need to seek the Lord's desires rather than our own.

When our hearts are fully devoted to the Lord, we will definitely see His Hand reach out to save us. He will fight our battles. He will give us rest. Our enemies will scatter at His presence, and His blessing will no longer be a distant thought, but a present reality.

Do we treat the Lord with the respect He is due? Sometimes, even those outside His covenant seem to understand better what it means to honor Him. It shouldn't be that way, but since we know that He is merciful and kind, we can lose our fear and end up being disrespectful to the God we claim to know. Let's look again at our relationship with Him, and honor Him with everything we are.

The Lord is never taken by surprise. Even when it seems like those against Him have the upper hand, they do not. The Philistines thought that they would humble the Lord by placing His ark in the temple of their god. But Dagon bowed and lost his head and hands. Wherever the ark was sent, trouble followed, and the people knew that our God was the one who brought it to them. Only by honoring Him do we find true blessing. Without Him, even those few good things that come will never last.

Just because we cannot sense the Lord's presence does not mean He is not there. He does not forsake His people, even though we often forsake Him. But He will let us feel the repercussions of our own failures. When those who lead us turn away from the Lord, everyone will feel the loss. So serve Him now and always; hold fast to our God.
