Romans 4:13-25
The promise to those who share Abraham’s faith

Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26
Christ heals a woman and raises a synagogue leader’s daughter

And as he sat at dinner in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and were sitting with Jesus and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Matthew 9:10-13

O, Jesus I Have Promised

1 O Jesus, I have promised
to serve you to the end;
remain forever near me,
my master and my friend.
I shall not fear the battle
if you art by my side,
nor wander from the pathway
if you wilt be my guide.

2 Oh, let me feel you near me;
the world is ever near.
I see the sights that dazzle,
the tempting sounds I hear.
My foes are ever near me,
around me and within;
but, Jesus, then draw nearer
to shield my soul from sin.

3 Oh, let me hear you speaking
in accents clear and still
above the storms of passion,
the murmurs of self-will.
Now speak to reassure me,
to hasten or control;
now speak and make me listen,
O Guardian of my soul.

4 O Jesus, you have promised
to all who follow you
that where you are in glory
your servant shall be too.
And Jesus, I have promised
to serve you to the end;
oh, give me grace to follow,
my master and my friend.

In the tradition of drinking and eating...

In Lutheran tradition, eating and drinking are seen as holy acts. Beyond the theological emphasis on Holy Communion, Lutherans historically celebrate God's gift of creation by enthusiastically gathering over food, coffee, and fellowship.

Sunday's Prayer

Almighty Creator and ever-living God:
we worship your glory, eternal Three-in-One,
and we praise your power, majestic One-in-Three.
Keep us steadfast in this faith,
defend us in all adversity,
and bring us at last into your presence,
where you live in endless joy and love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

The church is awash in vibrant shades of RED! - for the celebration of Pentecost Sunday. RED is the color reminding the church of the fire of the Holy Spirit as it swept through the church on it’s “birth-day” enlightening and inspiring the first followers of Jesus to proclaim to the nations the good news.
And you are invited to wear something red! 🔥🔥🔥

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy pow’r thru’out
The universe displayed

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When through the woods
And forest glades I wander
And hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze

And when I think
That God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in
That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin

When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
My God how great Thou art

A MOTHER'S DAY PRAYER

Gracious God,

You are love and you desire that we love one another.

As a mother hen cares for her chicks,

bless all who provide motherly care in our lives,

and inspire us to care for one another.

Amen.
