You can go to bed tonight with the sweet dreams of blueberry pancakes and maple syrup swirling in your head! Thanks to the hard work of your pancake breakfast set up team putting the time in on this beautiful summer Saturday. The fixin's are fixed, the flapjack flippers are ready to go, the egg scramblers have their eggs in a row, the tables are set and the percalator is set to go off at precisely 1010, so be sure to get to church tomorrow and enjoy some tasty food. Follows the 9:30 worship service. EVERYONE is welcome to share this meal!

Prayer for Labor Day:
Creator Lord, you are the source of all wisdom and purpose, you are the blessing of those who labor. Be with us in our labor to guide and govern our world. Give all men and women work that enhances human dignity and bonds us to one another. Give us pride in our work, a fair return for our labor, and joy in knowing that our work finds its source in you; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

“Whatever task you must do, work as if your soul depends on it, as for the Lord and not for humans, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward” (Colossians 3:23-24).

Our own Kathy Smith is pictured here and has a story you need to know about!

We were so honored to host a special meet and greet following last night's performance between the cast of Come From Away and long-time Playhouse friend and supporter, Kathy Smith. Kathy was on the 9th plane to get diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, on 9/11, and along with her husband, Andrew Seddon, shared her photos and memories of actually being a part of the events that inspired the musical. A big thanks to the Ivoryton Tavern Tavern on Summit for hosting, and to Kathy for sharing her story.

Today's rain inspired Nancy Ballek and Marcia to get cozy in the sanctuary and continue their project of sorting 66 years of choir music and other accumulated oddities. Thank you, ladies, for all of work behind the scenes that helps ensure our worship time together is beautiful and meanimgful.

Thanks to Andrew and Allen for planning and to Joe Sinibaldo and his crew at Lighthouse Electricians for installing new spotlights in the sanctuary. Thanks as well to Pastor Nathan and Garth for shoving and shouldering and finagling the two ton pulpit back into place. Wait till you see the difference! The switches have dimmers, which will be helpful for contemplative and other special worship times.

AUGUST 2 is WORLD HUNGER SUNDAY!
Jonathan is stocking the donation envelopes for you to use if you choose. He is looking forward to his very special reward of a Mystery Flavored Dum-Dum for his work.

Sunday’s scripture include God’s invitation for all who are hungry or thirsty to receive food and drink without cost. To coincide with these messages, a special collection will be pledged to ELCA World Hunger. Prayerfully consider redirecting the resources you would normally spend on something extra to help diminish hunger! Any amount is helpful, no matter how small. ELCA World Hunger, through a comprehensive program of relief and advocacy, connects people to the resources they need to lift themselves out of poverty. Look for the hunger globes to be passed during the offering. Donation envelopes on greeter’s table and in chair slots.
