Peace Community Chapel

Peace Community Chapel Peace CC is a mulit-denominational, missional community that serves the poor and those who have no church, in CT's Lower Fairfield County.

Peace Community Chapel is a growing missional faith community in Old Greenwich, CT, that seeks to love God, to love our neighbors and to help others learn to do the same, through the teachings of Jesus. We do our best to meet the needs of real people in the real world by providing food, basic life essentials and love to those who struggle in Lower Fairfield County. We aim to create a close-knit co

mmunity through meaningful, inspiring worship and radical hospitality. We also work in close alliance with charitable mission organizations, including: New Covenant Center (Stamford); Shelter For The Homeless (Stamford); Bridgeport Rescue Mission (Bridgeport).

Our Sock Drive for the Area Unhoused is over, and thanks to the generosity of our donors, we've been able to purchase nearly 18,000 pairs of socks! Now, the task at hand is to transport the socks and deliver them to shelters in CT, which will happen, in all likelihood, on the first week in December! Wish us luck!

As part of our campaign, an additional outreach mission of PCC, we proudly donated to these organizations: Neighbor To Neighbor, https://www.ntngreenwich.org/, whose work strengthens the Greenwich community by providing access to nutritious food, clothing, and other essentials in an atmosphere of kindness and respect, as well as WorthWhile, https://www.worthwhile.org/, which exists to reach and serve women affected by human trafficking.

We hope that you'll be inspired to donate to a worthy charity, and increase the ripple effect in your community and the world.

Dear Friends of Peace Community Chapel,

Normally, at this time of year, we at PCC would be launching our Annual Coat Drive; however, area shelters have contacted us and requested that they would rather have socks this year. Socks are the MOST requested item at shelters for the unhoused because the unhoused often walk long distances daily, causing socks to wear out quickly, and clean, dry socks are crucial for foot health, preventing issues like blisters, infections, and frostbite, especially when exposed to harsh weather conditions; yet, they are also one of the least donated items, making them highly sought after.

Now that autumn and falling temperatures are officially upon us, we begin thinking, not only of gathering with family and friends during the upcoming holiday season, but (hopefully) we also think of those who struggle and who are alone at this time of year.

In the past 10 or so years, we've been able to donate a substantial number of winter coats to area shelters in Fairfield County, because of generous donations like yours. This year, we hope you'll continue the trend of generosity, by helping us donate socks to the area shelters. You'll be able to donate to this current drive until Sunday, DECEMBER 1, which you can do in a couple ways:

- click on the "Donate" tab on our website, peacecommunitychapel.org/donate.html to securely donate on our PayPal page; or

- send a check, made payable to “Peace Community Chapel,” to 36 Arcadia Rd, P O Box 506; Old Greenwich, CT 06870 (please write "Socks" in the Memo section of your check), or

- mail new or gently used adult (men/women) socks to: Peace Community Chapel; 36 Arcadia Rd #506; Old Greenwich CT 06870

If you know someone you think might like to help out with our efforts, please forward this email to them! Remember, our SOCK Drive runs from today, 10/16, to Sunday, 12/1.

Thank you so much for helping to make this season a little warmer and for helping to make some very important dreams come true for people who now know that they matter.

Wishing you a wonderful autumn and holiday season!

Peace

Last week, some folks from PeaceCC traveled to the New Covenant Center in Stamford to deliver 435pr of socks to help out for the Fall Season! If you can help your local shelter by donating what they need or what you can, please do... you'll be helping a lot of people this season!

If you're not comfortable giving cash to the homeless, please consider giving a food card (like McDonald's, etc) or a supermarket gift card. Giving a supermarket card allows people, who are stuggling, to put food on the table, as well as allowing them to have a choice as to what to buy. The gift of choice is something many people value, far more than any object. Peace.
