After N**i Germany collapsed in 1945, the Allies faced a massive and unprecedented challenge: how do you rebuild a democratic society after a dictatorship that involved ordinary people? To answer this question, millions of Germans were required to fill out denazification questionnaires. These forms created an extraordinary
historical record: a detailed snapshot of how deeply the N**i regime reached into everyday careers, institutions, and economic life. In this talk, Annika Kaiser, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum's Sosland Foundation Fellow, will show how analyzing historical sources with computational tools allows us to uncover patterns that were previously invisible and might offer new ways to
understand the relationship between power, incentives, and justice.
