What Data Reveals About Postwar German Denazification with Annika Kaiser

After N**i Germany collapsed in 1945, the Allies faced a massive and unprecedented challenge: how do you rebuild a democratic society after a dictatorship that involved ordinary people? To answer this question, millions of Germans were required to fill out denazification questionnaires. These forms created an extraordinary
historical record: a detailed snapshot of how deeply the N**i regime reached into everyday careers, institutions, and economic life. In this talk, Annika Kaiser, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum's Sosland Foundation Fellow, will show how analyzing historical sources with computational tools allows us to uncover patterns that were previously invisible and might offer new ways to
understand the relationship between power, incentives, and justice.

Freedom Song is a transformative musical that will shatter the myth of Jews being immune to addiction. By interweaving a Passover Seder with personal stories of addiction, Freedom Song poses one stark question— “what are you a slave to?” The cast of Freedom Song is not a cast of actors; they are actual addicts in recovery that have broken off the shackles of drugs, alcohol, gambling, and other destructive behaviors. By performing in Freedom Song, our interchanging cast members have an opportunity to answer questions from the audience and to share their experiences on how best to recover from a lifestyle of addiction. Using song and dance, tears and laughter, and an intense post show discussion with our cast, Freedom Song will open your eyes to the real-life struggle against the ‘bondage of self’ that we fight every day. We encourage you to invite guests. Teens and parents are encouraged to attend together. There will be Havdalah and a reception following the show and talk-back.
