Update:
Clarification on the current issue within our temple recently that has been going on from the current committee members. They have eloquently posted on the Web Page that the current committee had set up since they came into their positions in 2024, defending their actions in forcing the Venerable Monk out of the Temple Monastery. No matter how eloquent or clever the explanation is, the committee does not possess the right to evict the monk, period. They claimed there are misinformation that has been circulating about their actions.
What we are trying to get people to understand about this action is that it against the Bylaws governing the housing for the Monk. The Temple is a religious institution, which everybody is aware of. What many people may not know is there is a clause under the Religious Bylaws governing the institution that provides housing for the Monk.
Parsonage:
"A religious parsonage is a house owned by a church or religious organization and provided to a member of the clergy, such as a pastor or minister, as part of their compensation package. Often situated near the church, it allows for proximity to the congregation and is commonly referred to by various names including a manse, rectory, vicarage, or pastorium."
The committee members could not take it upon themselves for whatever reasons, to evict the Monk out of the Temple grounds. He can leave on his own, whenever he decides if wants to move on.
The allegations that the committee had brought up against the Monk will not stand up in any court of law. Because they are outside the ramifications of the laws governing the religious institutions. As president of the institution, one very important responsibility is to know the details of the Bylaws, because that same bylaw also governs the fiduciary duties of the elected officers. When issues arise, then you would have a better knowledge how to resolve the problems in accordance to your Bylaws dictation.
The temple committee members have to understand their duties and the restraints of their actions that are dictated under such bylaws. This current committee members' actions concerning the Venerable Monk in this case is overstepping the boundaries of their fiduciary duties. This is the challenge that is brought up against this committee members, especially the president. Because he is the top representative on the committee side. It is not about the many warnings that have been given to the Monk to vacate the property. It is about the clause in the bylaw that gives him the right to housing within the institution. I have stated many times to many people over the years, learn the laws or rules governing the duties of your position. Resolve the issues at hand in accordance with the nature of the institution bylaws, then nobody can challenge your actions or decisions.
Hopefully, this will shed some light on the situation at hand a little bit.
Thank you for your continuing support.
