Take control of your negative thoughts. Satan will use negativity to control your mind, leading to inactivity and depression. When he whispers in your ear just reach up and knock him off your shoulder and tell him not today Satan, not today or any day.

You’re a child of the most High God, you are a child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and are protected by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Blessings

In a recent interview, Reverend Dr. Charles Marie Kondé, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Côte d’Ivoire, described the dynamic growth taking place around the four Bible schools that have been established in the country.

“What we have noticed,” he explained, “is that wherever we have Bible schools built in some areas, the growth—I mean, in planting churches and the conversion of people—goes faster.”

Bible schools are doing more than training leaders—they are helping fuel the planting of churches and the transformation of lives.

Now, Dr. Kondé is envisioning that same dynamic playing out in northern Côte d’Ivoire as the national church develops a strategy to reach this largely underserved region.

Where leaders are equipped, churches are planted. Where churches are planted, lives are transformed.

Pray with us for a movement of Spirit-empowered, biblically trained leaders who will help bring the hope of the gospel to northern Côte d’Ivoire.

Many Are Called

Many are called, but few are chosen. Matthew 22:14

Many are called, but few are chosen” might well be the motto emblazoned above the doors of Hollywood casting directors. They put out the casting call for actors to audition for specific roles in their movies; many actors audition, but the number of roles and actors chosen is limited.

One hopeful young actor was turned down time and again by the same company for the roles for which he auditioned. Despairing yet determined, he made a last-ditch effort. Approaching one of the film directors, he said with as much moxie as he could muster, “It’s now or never, sir, if you want me in one of your pictures. I now have many companies after me.”

“Oh, really?” asked the director, his interest aroused by this statement. “Exactly which companies would that be?”

“Well,” said the actor seriously, “there’s the telephone company, the electric company, the gas company, the milk company . . .”

The director laughed, and the creative actor got the role.

In a similar way, the casting call has gone out to everyone in the world for parts in heaven’s drama. Fortunately, there are roles available for each of us who answers that divine call. The great Playwright has carefully crafted a script that allows us to use our particular gifts and talents on life’s stage, and acting experience is not required.

The drama is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those on stage, calling us to give the greatest live performance possible. And the finale will be out of this world! So study your lines carefully—they’re available in the Playwright’s special Book, which he has made available to us all.

My Lord and my God, I pray with all my heart that I will play my part in your drama with joy and excitement. And when the finale comes, may I be found in my place onstage. Amen.

Did God Hear You?

We are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 1 John 5:14

Sunday was an extremely frustrating day for Susan. She had forgotten to set her alarm the night before, so she overslept. Everything went downhill from there. The kids were slow getting ready for church, Susan burned the waffles and had to start over, and she couldn’t do anything with her hair. On the way to church all the traffic lights were red. When Susan’s family slipped into their pew about ten minutes late, they drew the critical eyes of the people around them.

Susan managed to sit through the church service, but she was distracted by her morning aggravations. On the way home after the service, she complained about how long the sermon had been. She griped when the traffic moved at a snail’s pace. And at the restaurant where they stopped for lunch, she fussed about the waitress and how long they had to wait to get their food.

When their lunches were delivered at last, Susan said, “Let’s pray,” and she led a prayer of thanks to God.

Throughout the morning Susan’s little girl had been watching her. As they began to eat, she said, “Mommy, did God hear you when you fussed about the sermon?”

“Well,” stammered Susan, “yes, I guess he did.”

“Did he hear you when you yelled at the traffic and complained about the waitress?”

“Yes, I’m sure he heard me, dear.” “Well, Mommy, did God hear you just now when you prayed?”

“Yes, sweetheart, of course he did.”

“Then, Mommy, which one did God believe?”

Now that’s a good question, isn’t it? The truth is, God hears everything we say, whether we are praying or not. (It makes me want to put a zipper on my lips!)

O God, please forgive me for speaking words that do not glorify or please you. Help me to be more careful about my speech as well as my actions. Amen.

God often uses adversity to direct us, correct us, and protect us. Sometimes people are like tea, you don't know what's really in them until you add the hot water. God can use difficult circumstances to refine our character. But he is always with you through it all.
