Historically a "parish church" was a place built by the saints that served two primary purposes...loving God together and loving the community together. These two priorities meant that the building was used for everything from worshipping God, to township meetings, and community parties. These two priorities also meant that everybody from tradesmen, to families, and the local dirty dog had a place
inside the door of the "parish church". The center of our theology, lifestyle, and message is Jesus. We love Jesus, trust scripture, and are settling for nothing less than following Him and becoming like Him. We also believe that Jesus' mercy is sufficient for every need and failure along the way. We celebrate together because we are glad together as a people who are "dwelling with Christ and community". FAMILY: From God's first citation of "not good for man to be alone" followed by the first dysfunctional family of Adam and Eve, to the romantic song of Solomon and his lover, and the beautiful picture and purpose of a loving home, we have picked up on God's cue of emphasizing healthy families. The leadership of The Parish values the health of their homes as a first priority of being radical followers of Jesus, and feel obligated to nurture and equip healthy homes in our community. Husbands and wives should be best friends for life. Kids should trust their parents more than their peers. Healthy relationships aren't a switch that we turn on and off. Healthy relationships happen through healthy investments and painful honesty with one another. The rubber of spiritual truths have grip on the roads of relationships and we make a priority of experiencing God's promises for healthy homes. It's no irony at all that scripture opens with the narrative of the first wedding in creation and closes with the final eternal union of Christ and his bride, the church.
