Thank you all so much for your generous contributions! With your help, we raised $260 total, with $130 going to the OKC chapter of Black Lives Matter and $130 going to the Loveland Foundation! While our fundraiser may be over, our action and commitment to the movement is not. The OCU Jewish Stars will continue to encourage the community to continue the fight. All Black lives matter!

HUGE shoutout to Luke Gilmore for making this graphic!

Hello everyone! The OCU Jewish Stars want to show their solidarity and support with the Black Lives Matter movement today, tomorrow, and every day moving forward. We hear the ongoing calls for racial equity in our nation and echo it firmly. As we are a group that has promoted religious diversity on campus, we must recognize the current reality in this country, and know that when we advocate for Jewish lives, we also are advocating for Black lives, trans lives, the lives of people whose voices aren't as routinely highlighted, and more. The OCU Jewish Stars is a place where all should feel welcome and embraced. As a community, we will work to live up to that statement every single day.
To honor this important holiday, Juneteenth, and recognize the importance of this movement, we are going to be holding a social media fundraiser for The Loveland Foundation and the Oklahoma City chapter of Black Lives Matter. To kick off the fundraising, the Jewish Stars Exec. Team has compiled a $75 starting donation and will be accepting donations through social media. If you’d like to donate, please visit our Instagram Story or page, comment what dollar amount you’re donating, and Venmo -Levy-3. Once our bingo donation boards are full on both social media platforms, we will share how much was raised and the receipts for accountability of your generous contributions.
Lastly, if you want to double your donation of $5 or $6 dollars, you will receive free admission to a Jewish Stars event of your choice this coming school year! Thank you all so much in advance for your contribution!!!

The OCU Jewish Stars want to address the act of hate, racism, and antisemitism displayed during the online graduation ceremony. We are proud to represent the Jewish community on OCU’s campus. Outreach and education are our main vehicles to strengthen the diversity within the community. As a cultural organization on this campus, we want to extend our love and support to any student who feels attacked by this act of hate. We are thankful to be a part of a campus community who embraces our differences as strengths. This incident is a shaking reminder of the very present antisemitism and racism still in this world. The Jewish Stars believe it is important to stay connected to our campus community and continue to educate ourselves and others about the issues that affect our students of minority on this campus. If you were saddened by this discriminatory rhetoric, we want you to know that you are not alone and the OCU Jewish Stars is open to anyone who needs a supportive and loving community right now. Our hearts and sincerest congratulations go out to the class of 2020 on this day. It may not have been the day you were expecting, but your resilience is unmatched and this senseless act cannot diminish your accomplishments. Today we extend a message of Ha’tikvah, or hope. May we proceed with love and hope for a better world.
