A man finds joy in giving an apt reply -- and how good is a timely word!
--Proverbs 15:23
New International Version
THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S VERSE...
Knowing the right word at the right time is a great gift. But even the best of speakers has to admit that the best of his or her words are not nearly as good as those the Spirit gives. Nevertheless, we must not excuse ourselves of insensitive speech, unkindness, or even missed opportunities because we were not paying attention to what was said, were not spiritually in tune with the needs of our companions, or simply did not know Scripture well enough to bless others with gracious speech at the appropriate time.
MY PRAYER...
Loving Shepherd, I will spend much of my time today with people. Some of them know you, but most do not. Please give me wisdom to say things that lead people closer to you. Give me words of help and hope for the broken. Give me words of tenderness for the fainting. Give me words of direction for the confused. Father, I pray that whatever words I say today may reflect your will and be led by your purposes. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

O healer of souls, we come to you, Lord, desiring that you would forgive us our sins and heal us from the harm those sins have done to us spiritually. We know that you will not turn away the genuinely penitent man but will hear him and bury his sins in the depths of the deepest sea. We know you will cast our confessed and forgiven sins behind your back and hurl them into the land of forgetfulness forever. Please help us to come to you in true repentance and with faith in your compassionate nature. Amen.

Lord God my Heavenly Father, hallowed be thy name, and holy by the wisdom passed down throughout our Scriptures. Hallowed be those who have gone before me and left their knowledge for all future followers. Grant me some of these things, Lord, that I may impart them to the young or the new. Amen.

I have a message from God unto thee - Judges 3:20
God's Messages are often secret. - When Eglon was assured that Ehud had brought a Divine message, which could only be delivered in secret, "a secret errand" (Judges 3:19), he fearlessly bade all his retinue go forth from the audience chamber. And in utter loneliness the one passed to the other the message of death. So there are crises in our lives when God's messengers bring us the secret message, in which none can intrude or interfere.
God's Messages must be received with revererence. - When Ehud said, "I have a message for thee," Eglon rose out of his seat. This was a mark of respect, the attitude of attention. It is with similar awe that we should ever wait for the revelation of the Divine will. "What saith my Lord unto His servant?"
God's Messages leap out from unexpected quarters. - Ehud was left-handed; his sword was therefore on his right side, and he appeared unarmed. No one dreamed of looking for his sword, except on his left side; he was therefore allowed to pass unchallenged into the presence of the king. So Nathan strode into David's presence, who thought his sin was undiscovered, and said, "Thou art the man." Cultivate this surprise with sinners.
God's Messages are sharp as a two-edged sword, and cause death. - A scimitar is sharp at the edge, and blunt at the back to strike; whilst a two-edged sword is made to pierce. God's Word pierces as a two-edged sword to the dividing of soul and spirit in the recesses of the being, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. When the Eglon of self has received its death-wound, the glad trumpet of freedom is blown on the hills.

Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Are we waiting on the Lord today for some things to change in our situation? Are we waiting for Him to restore our marriage? Are we waiting for Him to help save our backsliding friend or family member, or maybe we are waiting for a financial breakthrough, a new job, or for someone to treat us right, etc.?
As long as we are waiting on the Lord for His answer or for His change, and we remain open to how and when He wants to do it, WE shall WIN! Amen
Today, if you are waiting on the Lord... you will be Strong. You will mount up with wings as eagles, you will RUN and not be weary, You will WALK and not faint!
Go forward in Christ today, do what He tells you to do and be STRONG with renewed strength.

Matthew 7:7 (NKJV)7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

God tells us that if we ask, we will have, if we seek, we will find, and if we knock, it will be opened. The question is, "do we ask, do we seek and do we knock?".

This was a huge lesson we had to learn. We would never ask God for anything. We would just wait and see what He would do. Even if we were in a critical situation, we would just wait, wait, and wait some more.

We were patient in this area, but we weren't doing everything we were told to do. We weren't asking, seeking, and knocking. How many of us do that today? We just sit and wait and see what God will do.

We think because God knows everything about us that we shouldn't have to ask.

Wrong! We need to ask. And one of the things we have learned is that we need to be specific with our asking.

Once we learned how to ask, we would be very shy and reserved about it. We would only ask for exactly what we and others needed. That was it. Nothing else! I guess we didn't want to put God out, so to speak.

But, one day during my prayer time I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to lift my desires as well. I struggled with this, and I even argued with Him. Don't argue with the Holy Spirit. He always wins.

He showed me that as long as my desires lined up with the will of God for me, and as long as they weren't going to hurt me, it was OK to ask for more than just exactly what we needed. He has proven to us that He loves to help us with the desires of our hearts.

He loves to see us succeed and move forward. He loves to bless us!

We'd like to remind everyone of you today, as we obey God with everything that He blesses us with, that we also give back to Him a tenth of it.

As long as we are diligent and faithful to Him, putting Him first, He will take care of our every need. He will protect us and give us the desires of our hearts.

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV) 4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

That doesn't mean we can be silly or excessive in our asking, but be prayerful. God will show us what we need and what desires are good for us. He will give us wisdom even in our asking. Amen.

Have a lovely day. You are blessed to be a blessing!

Proverbs 11:25 (NLT) 25 The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

Teach us, Lord, to walk in the light of your Word and with due regard to our circumstances. Circumstances are not an excuse to compromise your truths, we know, but they will affect how we apply those truths in a specific instance. Please give us the wisdom to see what you would have us do in each situation and the courage to do it. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I am constantly amazed that you believe in me after failing to love other people as you have commanded. Jesus taught me how to treat others, and I ask that you strengthen my understanding and compassion, my willingness and action, and fortify them all with love. I know that I do not deserve it Lord, but I pray today to commit to serving you as you see fit. I pray this with love in my heart for you. Amen.

Psalm 119:176
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek they servant; for I do not forget they commandments.

The shepherd will go looking for a lost sheep, no matter where it might have wandered. Regardless of ravine, cavern, raging river, steep cliff, the shepherd will endeavor to save even the scrawniest, mangiest sheep. His devotion to his flock is total and absolute.

God's devotion to us is even greater. We can never be separated from the love and care of God. No matter how far we might stray from Him, He is continually on the lookout for us, and He will rescue us from whatever our peril might be. Rest sure and secure in the love of God. He will never give you up for lost.

Prayer: Lord, I wander off sometimes, but I always want to be with You. Keep a watchful eye upon me, a foolish sheep. Herd me back to the fold, where I am always safe and warm. Amen.

And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.
– 1 Corinthians 15:49 (NIV)
Today’s commentary

Our actions constantly reflect the insecurities and carnality that Adam and Eve unleashed in the Garden of Eden when they ate the forbidden fruit. But the good news is that God saw our plight and brought us a new Adam—Jesus Christ. The power of the resurrection breaks the chains that the first Adam placed upon us and gives us the ability to reflect a new life—the life that God had always intended for us from the beginning.
