University Heights Baptist Church OKC The little neighborhood Church at 63rd & Shartel UHBC was there from the late '30s or early '40s until the '80s. Western and changed the name to Westernwood.

The congregation then sold the original location for commercial use and moved north to a location south of Memorial Road on N.

VBS was always fun at UHBC. Martin Edwards had the boys doing woodwork projects, we learned about mission work, and pledged to the American flag, the Christian flag, and the Bible. Mrs Voight gave us a piano signal to stand up for the pledges and a signal to sit down afterwards. Cookies and Koolaid completed the experience.

Jim Kettler here. My sweet sister Ruth Taylor passed 12/26/2025. We had her funeral on 1/2/2026. It was beautiful and many friends and family members attended. We will all miss her until we see her again.
