Southern Oaks Church had the opportunity today to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a very practical way.
A young family in need—who does not attend our church—reached out for help after a difficult season. The wife is currently in the hospital, and the husband has been home caring for their two young daughters. In the midst of these challenges, they fell behind on rent and were facing the possibility of eviction.
In response, Southern Oaks gathered a love offering to help meet their immediate need.
Today a couple of our members had the privilege of meeting with the husband at the church to deliver the gift on behalf of the congregation. They shared with him that this was given out of the love of Christ that has been shown to us.
They also took time to pray with him. He responded with deep gratitude and emotion, expressing how much the support meant during such a difficult time.
This is what it means to be the body of Christ! Southern Oaks is continually reminded that God can do great things through a willing and compassionate community, small as we may be. We serve a mighty God!
We are thankful for the opportunity to serve, to give, and to reflect the love of Jesus in real and tangible ways.
Blessed to be a blessing! God is good!
