Ash Wednesday is coming.

“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

On Wednesday, February 18, we gather to begin the sacred journey of Lent, a season of reflection, repentance, renewal, and hope.

🕕 6:00 PM – Dinner together
🕖 7:00 PM – Ash Wednesday Worship & Imposition of Ashes

The ashes remind us of our humanity. The cross reminds us of God’s love.
This is not a day of shame; it is a day of honesty, grace, and new beginnings.

Whether Lent is a long-held tradition for you or something new you’re exploring, you are invited. Come as you are. Bring your questions. Bring your burdens. Bring your whole self.

Let’s begin this season together.
Because every journey toward resurrection starts with truth… and with community.

✨ Word of the Day: Thanksgiving (תּוֹדָה – Todah) ✨

Psalm 50 reminds us that true worship isn’t about checking religious boxes, it’s about gratitude. The Hebrew word todah means more than just saying “thank you.” It’s a deep acknowledgment that everything we have ultimately belongs to God.

Gratitude isn’t a transaction; it’s a relationship. When we live with thankful hearts, we align ourselves with trust, integrity, and faithful love.

Today, may we practice todah, not just in word, but in how we live. 💛

Jesus in 60: Authentic Faith & Integrity

Jesus said, “You neglect the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith.”

Jesus wasn’t rejecting faithfulness; he was calling people deeper.

Echoing the prophet Micah, Jesus reminds us that genuine faith is not about appearances.
It’s about justice in how we act, mercy in how we treat people, and humility in how we walk with God.

In Oklahoma City, it’s easy to confuse performance with faith.
Jesus invites us to build a life rooted in integrity, where belief shows up in how we live.

At Disciples First OKC, this is the kind of faith we’re learning to practice.

You are welcome here.

Jesus in 60: Come to Me, All Who Are Weary

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus was echoing the promise of the prophet Isaiah, that God gives strength to the weary and renews those who feel spent.

Weariness isn’t a failure of faith.
It’s part of being human.

In Oklahoma City, many are carrying more than anyone sees:
work, grief, anxiety, responsibility, loss.

Jesus doesn’t demand more effort.
He offers rest.

At Disciples First OKC,
this is the rest we seek together.

You are welcome here.

Jesus in 60: The Kingdom of God Is Near

Jesus said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near.”

That wasn’t a threat.
It was good news.

Jesus was echoing the prophet Isaiah,
who spoke of a messenger announcing peace, hope, and God’s reign.

The kingdom of God isn’t just something we wait for. It’s something that breaks into the world through justice, compassion, and shared life.

In Oklahoma City, good news matters,
especially when fear and scarcity feel louder than hope.

At Disciples First OKC, this is the good news we trust and try to live.

You are welcome here.

Midweek Moment

Pause for a breath.
Unclench your shoulders.
You don’t have to carry everything at once.

God meets us not just at beginnings or endings,
but right here, in the middle of the week,
in the middle of our questions,
in the middle of our lives.

You are not behind.
You are not alone.
You are held.

💛
Loving ALL the people.

Jesus in 60: Blessed Are the Peacemakers

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

Peacemaking isn’t passive.

It doesn’t mean avoiding conflict or staying quiet.

The psalmist reminds us that peace begins with our words, what we say, repeat, and refuse to say about one another.

In Oklahoma City, peace often starts in conversations: online, at the dinner table, across differences we didn’t choose.

Peacemaking takes courage.
It takes discipline.
It takes love.

At Disciples First OKC,
this is the peace we try to live.

You are welcome here.

Jesus in 60: Forgiveness

Jesus said, “If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

That teaching didn’t begin with Jesus.
It comes from the prophet Micah, who says God “does not maintain wrath forever,
but delights in steadfast love.”

Forgiveness is not pretending harm didn’t happen.

It’s refusing to let harm have the final word.

In Oklahoma City, relationships fracture.
Families break.
Politics divide.
Forgiveness becomes an act of courage.

At Disciples First OKC, this is the grace we practice together.

You are welcome here.
