Fr. John Herrera, Pastor at St. Joseph's in Hennessey and Bison, celebrated Mass and told his vocation story at the monthly meeting of the Serra Club of OKC yesterday. Afterwards, lunch at a neighborhood restaurant. Fr. Herrera's Marian devotion was clear to see.

STEPHEN JONES, Parochial Vicar at St. John the Baptist Parish in Edmond, was the only priest from the Diocese of Oklahoma City present in Rome upon the death of Pope Francis, the convening of the conclave, and the election and installation of the first American pope, Pope Leo XIV. In his talk at the August meeting of the Serra Club of OKC, Fr. Jones reflects on these historic events, on what they meant to him as a young priest, and on the surge of hope he senses in the Universal Church as well as the Church in Oklahoma.

FR. STEPHEN JONES, Parochial Vicar at St. John the Baptist Parish in Edmond, will speak at our next monthly gathering of the Serra Club of OKC on Tuesday, August 19. [SEE FLYER FOR DETAILS.]
Fr. Jones will relate his experiences in Rome this spring, present as he was for the death of a pope, the call of a conclave of cardinals, and the election and installation of a new pope--and an American pope at that. He will tell us how the experience affected him personally and how the transition gives him hope for our diocese in Oklahoma.

Three days ago, Father James Conner, native of Tulsa, OK, and the longest serving Trappist monk at Gethsemani Abbey in Kentucky, died at the age of 92. Fr. Conner entered Gethsemani in 1949 at the age of 16. He was ordained a priest on his parents’ wedding anniversary, June 15, 1957. As undermaster of novices, he assisted Fr. Louis (Thomas Merton), who was his confessor. Fr. Connor revealed the details of his beautiful vocation story in the attached video.
