Fiorenza, fourth bishop of San Angelo, established St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish on August 1, 1982. Bridges as its founding pastor. The first Masses were celebrated at Blanton Elementary School. Barnabas Episcopal Church welcomed the congregation and Mass was celebrated in their church until Christmas 1985 when the new church on North Grandview Avenue was ready for occupancy. The fifth bishop of
San Angelo, Bishop Michael D. Pfeifer, OMI , dedicated the church in May 1986, the first new church he dedicated as bishop. Parish events soon crowded the congregation's limited facilities, so the parish quickly set about adding the family center. The building, consisting of a parlor, gymnasium and kitchen, was completed in 1990. Now that the pavilion has been added, the basketball goals have been taken down and the floor will be replaced and we have renamed the "Gym", the "Celebration Hall". In June 1996 Father Mark Woodruff replaced Father Bridges as pastor. The parish continued to grow, and in 1999 the office/education building was completed. The courtyard, one of St. Elizabeth's outstanding features, was also finished. The Hollice & Sylvia Clark Youth Building and the Molina Family Pavilion were completed in 2011. Joe Barbieri took the reigns of the church on July 1, 2021 as Parochial Administrator, and became our Pastor from July 10, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Bhaskar Mendem joined us in January 2022 for a short time but has since returned to India. In July 2023, we welcome Fr. Francis Onyekozuru to St. Elizabeth's as our Pastor. More than 2,000 families are currently registered at St. Elizabeth's, with a blend of Anglo, Hispanic and Asian making up our diverse community.
