It is tempting to want to know all the messy details of someone's past before we fully welcome them into the church family. But true grace does not demand a background check. Rahab was a woman with a difficult history who just wanted to shed her past and serve the living God. When someone decides to follow Christ, we should celebrate their new future instead of judging their old life.

Worry comes naturally to all of us, but we have a choice in how we respond to it. Instead of letting anxiety take over, we can intentionally shift our focus to Jesus. By bringing our specific concerns to Him in prayer and remembering the ways He has faithfully provided in the past, we turn our heavy burdens into moments of worship. Let us fix our eyes on Him today.

Even the strongest leaders in the church have moments of crisis. Peter was one of the first elders of the Lord's church, yet he struggled deeply. He denied Jesus, sank in the water when his faith faltered, and even acted like a hypocrite by treating people differently based on their background. The Bible does not hide the flaws of its leaders because it wants us to rely on a perfect God, not perfect people.

When we read about the giants of the Bible, we often forget they were just as human as we are. Abraham is known as the father of faith, but scripture also records him lying on two separate occasions just to save his own life. He is in the Hall of Faith, yet he still made major mistakes. God's ability to use us is far greater than our human failures.

It is easy to think that God only uses perfect people, but scripture proves otherwise. The Apostle Peter literally lied to save his own life and denied knowing Jesus three times. Yet, God still chose him to be a foundational leader in the early church. God chose Peter in spite of his sins, not because of them, and He can do the exact same with you.

We often try to take on life's hardest challenges relying strictly on our own strength. When we do, we end up exhausted and discouraged. The only person to ever walk this earth with an unblemished record is Jesus Christ. Every single one of us has fallen short in some way. But the beautiful truth of the gospel is that our imperfections do not have to keep us from eternity with God. He does not condone our sin, but He offers a way to heaven anyway.
