Daily Devotion. Meek. A famous quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, a pastor and later a poet educated at Harvard’s Seminary, states, “In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him.” This is a Biblical concept that teaches the essence of meekness which is to accept people at their full value before God, as well as in relationship to other people. We do well to remember that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The field is level at the foot of the cross. We have joy in the Lord, and how we approach others should reflect humility that makes it contagious!
1 Timothy 6:11.

Daily Devotion. Liquid Love. Prior verses have given us a good idea of “these things.” We’re to told to flee them and pursue righteousness, faith, and gentleness in love as we fight the good fight. Imagine an army whose mightiest weapon is love! This is the Army of Christ in which we’re enlisted. As His soldiers we engage the foes of the cross armed with the love He demonstrated on that cross! That’s the love poured out there in the form of Christ’s blood. Love that breaks down every stronghold, defeats all sin, and raises its enemies to new life as the adopted sons of God forever!
1 Timothy 6:11.

Daily Devotion. God’s Perfect Timing. We believe God unto salvation. That’s the end of our condemnation issue, but it’s the beginning of our trust issue. How is it we can believe God to save our immortal soul for all eternity, and yet live each day worried by life’s problems common to us all? Faith is defined by a willingness to risk every situation on God. It is a surrender that involves a commitment to His timing. Patience is the discipline to wait and see how He works it out. God writes each line, and our trust is in the period He places at the end of each sentence before it was ever written. 1 Timothy 6:8-10.

Daily Devotion. Our first love. The love of money is the root of all evil, and not the money itself. When we focus on riches and wealth in life, it replaces our pursuit of godliness. This is the snare that leads us away from God, and to ultimate destruction of an effective faith in Him. As we follow the Lord Jesus we must always remember to put Him first and focus on what counts for eternity. We all need money to live and be financially responsible. At the same time we must always put God first. Money and possessions should be seen as a means of opportunity we can use for God’s glory.
1 Timothy 6:7-10.

Daily Devotion. He’s in Our Shoes. God's presence is walking in our shoes whenever we enter a room. This is the essence of godliness in the ordinary things of life. Taking God with us into every part of daily living may not always bring the satisfaction we desire, but if we enrich others by shining His presence we will find contentment. It is God who empowers and directs us in how to be effective in the lives of those around us. We only need to live out Christ’s mission day to day, situation by situation, and person by person. In so doing we find contentment, and great gain in godliness.
1 Timothy 6:5.
