Celebrate Recovery Bethel Baptist Moody Al

Celebrate Recovery Bethel Baptist Moody Al *** UPDATE *** - We are no longer meeting in person as of the end of March 2021. We may go virtual in the future, change locations, or even change programs.

Whatever the Spirit leads us to do. Thank you all for your support over these many years. There is a lot of things that this world will offer. If you starve yourself to be skinny, you will be loved. If you drink that beer, you will be accepted. If you follow the crowd, you won't be lonely. If you take that unhealthy risk, there's no way you'll pay the price...you are too smart to get in trouble. Y

ea....the world....it has a lot to say, but the question is how much of it is truth? At Celebrate Recovery, we celebrate the real truth. Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, walked the earth, lived a sinless life and died for your sin and mine. Jesus is perfect love! A relationship with Him is unlike any other. He brings peace where there is turmoil, joy where there is lonliness, sadness, and grief. He brings forgiveness where there was guilt! He is a forever friend and a loving Abba Father. He is....I Am! Celebrate Recovery is many things. To some it is a place they are ordered to go. To others it is a safe place of refuge. To many it is....family. A place where openness and honesty are the norm and acceptance for who you are and who God meant for you to be is encouraged; but most importantly, Celebrate Recovery is all God! All the time, all for His Glory! All about His Love, Salvation, Peace, Joy and Grace! He is the only true answer. What is your question? He is the answer! He is a living, breathing, relevant and faithful God. Do you know Him? Do you trust in Him? If you have questions, we want to talk and share with you how He has taken us from the depths to His glorious light. We welcome you! Come worship and grow with us!

Who is this condemned man? How might he represent us?

"You probably have heard slanderous reports about me. What you think of me depends mostly upon which people who’ve spoken to you. I only ask you to form your own opinion after you have heard me out.

This is probably the first visit some of you have made to a Roman dungeon. Better watch your step; it’s not easy in the dim lighting down here. We don’t have the benefit of sanitation or rodent control, so what your noses find offensive is what we try to ignore when we eat and attempt to sleep. Now is not the time to be sissies about crude circumstances. You need to recognize these sacrifices as the cost for securing Jewish future.

Has that guard who led you down here gone back above? Good! Listen carefully to what I’m telling you! You have heard me called a murderer and a revolutionary. So, what of it?? Yes, I have tried to free Israel of Roman occupation. And what blood I have spilled I would gladly spill again if it would bring us freedom from these pagan Romans, their stupid gods, and their corrupt taxes!

Although they captured me and have condemned me to hang on a hideous Roman cross, my ex*****on needs to stir up more revolutionaries! If Jerusalem is ever to be free of Roman rule all Jewish brothers must unite in arms to sink our daggers into the throats of unsuspecting Romans. If my life is now over, at least let my death fuel the movement all the stronger!! I am counting on you for this!

Be very careful not to trust the Sadducees and temple authorities; those cowards grovel to appease the Romans to retain the ability to maintain temple worship and their authority over us. The Pharisees are only slightly more trustworthy since they prolong their self-righteous positions while awaiting Messiah who will overthrow the Roman occupation. Only fellow Zealots and my dagger-hiding brothers (we prefer the name sicarii) are truly willing to take the actions necessary to overthrow these heathen soldiers of Rome.

They call us thieves and bandits. I admit that we sometimes have to stoop to petty theft, but this is not what got us condemned for crucifixion. Word was given us last night that today I and my two collaborators, Thaddeus and Simon, are to be flogged and forced to carry our cross beams to Golgotha this day. This news causes my heart to pound and palms to sweat, knowing what agony lies ahead for us. Such frightening penalty is reserved for the public humiliation of feared revolutionaries, not mere thieves! As undignified as our deaths will be, we seek only to stir up more opposition to Tiberius and his stooges.

Every day we are haunted by the screams of those who’ve been pulled from the dungeon to face their fates. None have returned. Only their stench and frightful cries remain as our reminder of the moment we all dread. How we pray that Jehovah would send Messiah in time to spare us this torture! Oh that this healer Jesus was really as powerful as Judas reported to us! I’d rather die from an enemy’s dagger than that horrific cross. I dread that my slow ex*****on might entertain any Romans or traitor Sadducees!

If only Jesus really was Messiah and would spare us this gruesome agony! Or maybe they will grant a prisoner release due to Passover!"

Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days! (Psalms 90:14).

Romans 12:20

"If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head."

Let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield (Psalm 5:11-12)

Except from Adrian Rogers devotion :

At Bethlehem, a bright star pointed the way to Jesus. But there’s a darker side to Christmas. Consider the scars of the Lord Jesus. They’re not incidental. They’re so fundamental that Jesus carried those scars with Him to Heaven.

Think about it: the only man-made thing in Heaven are the scars of Jesus Christ. When He returned to Heaven, He took some souvenirs of His visit with him…the scars in His hands and side, keeping them as a lasting memorial through all eternity.

Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You. You show lovingkindness to thousands . . . the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts. You are great in counsel and mighty in work.
(Jeremiah 32:17-19)

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen
(2 Corinthians 13:14)

John 3:16-17
New Living Translation
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave[a] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
