Lord Of Life Lutheran Church Oconomowoc Leading people into a relationship with Jesus Christ and bringing Christ into our community.

Blessings to you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Tomorrow we begin our summer-long look at the Biblical prophets entitled "The Majors and the Minors." We begin with Hosea, a prophet with an interesting backstory that actually reflected God's relationship with the people of Israel. His main criticism was against the superficial, lukewarm worship with which the Chosen People approached the Lord. How do we guard our souls against routine worship? What kind of relationship does our Lord desire from us? Join us at 9 AM tomorrow as we look at this matter.

Pizza and a Prayer will be held this Thursday at noon. If you plan on attending, please sign the sheet in the narthex so the Pastor can get a headcount.

In Peace,
Pastor Mike

Heavenly Father, Forgive me for the times my love has been like the morning mist, quickly disappearing when life gets difficult or comfortable. I pray that You will root within me a deep, steadfast love and an authentic knowledge of who You are. May my daily life be a living reflection of Your mercy and truth. In Jesus' name. Amen

Peace be to you in the name of our Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Tomorrow we will celebrate Holy Trinity Sunday commemorating God's revelation to humankind that He is the Great Three-in-One. In fact, Peter in his Pentecost Day sermon mentions all three members of the Trinity in the space of one sentence. The doctrine of the Trinity is easy to explain, but impossible for our human minds to comprehend. Why is the teaching of the Trinity vital for a true and living faith? What is the means God uses to change lives? Join us tomorrow at 9am and find out!

The WOW and G-Men's groups will be meeting after worship tomorrow.

Bags of Love will be assembled this Wednesday morning at 9:30. Please consider joining us and lending a helping hand.

The WOW Hobby and Social Group will be meeting this Friday at 1:00 PM. Please bring your favorite hobby or help us work on mats for the homeless.

There is a new sign up sheet for the June Pizza and a Prayer, to be held on Thursday, June 11th at noon.

Remember to praise God for the beautiful weather we had over the past 7 days!

In Peace,
Pastor Mike

Heavenly Father, we praise You for Your definite plan in sending Jesus of Nazareth, who walked among us with mighty signs and wonders. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your willing sacrifice on the cross, conquering the pangs of death so we might be redeemed. And thank You, Holy Spirit, for pouring out this resurrection truth into our hearts today. Amen.

Greetings to you in the name of our precious Savior, Jesus Christ!

Tomorrow, we will celebrate Pentecost, one of the three festivals that Israelite men were required to attend on an annual basis. As Christians, we recall it as the day when the Holy Spirit arrived in the likeness of a rushing wind and tongues of fire. Empowered to speak in multiple languages, the early disciples boldly proclaimed the Gospel, fulfilling the prophet Joel's promise that God's Spirit is poured out on all people. How is the Holy Spirit at work in the church today? What is the meaning behind the wind and the fire? Join us tomorrow at 9 AM as we celebrate the Holy Spirit and His gifts to the church.

In honor of Memorial Day, we remember those families who have lost loved ones through defending the freedoms of our nation, and also honor those who were willing to risk their lives in service to our country. A special quilt will be given to Mike at the end of our service in recognition of his time with the Marines.

Many thanks to our choir and their accompaninist Betty for gracing our services with their fine music over the past months. They will be singing two songs during worship tomorrow, then taking a summer break (don't expect any solos from Pastor Mike!).

The final session of the Spiritual Gifts Bible Study will be held this Wednesday at 4:30.

Pastor Mike

Heavenly Father, we pray for a spirit of unity. Break down the barriers of misunderstanding, prejudice, and division in our world. Give us ears to hear and understand one another across every background and language, just as the crowd heard the Good News on that day in Jerusalem. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Grace, mercy and peace be unto you in the name of our ascended Lord, Jesus Christ!

Even though Ascension Day was this past Thursday, today we will be celebrating this Festival Day at Lord of Life tomorrow. One of the main teachings of the Church is that 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus went back to heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father. What is the meaning behind the Ascension? What should be the main task of the Church until His return? Join us and discover why this is such an important day!

The choir will rehearse for the last time this season on Wednesday at 3:30 PM. It is a very important practice because they will grace our worship with 2 songs on May 24th. And remember that the Spiritual Gifts Bible Study will be held immediately following choir practice at 4:30 PM.

The G-Men's Bible Breakfast will be held this Friday at 9:00 AM in the Towner Crest dining hall. Join us as we continue to look at the conflict between King Saul and the young shepherd/musician, David.

In Peace,
Pastor Mike

Lord, fill us with the power of Your Spirit to be witnesses of Your love and grace, not only in our homes but to the ends of the earth. Give us the courage to act here on earth, sharing the good news and helping to bring about Your peace and justice. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Today - Thursday, May 14th - is Ascension Day! It marks 40 days after Easter and is the day Jesus ascended into heaven. As Jesus was lifted into heaven, He promised His disciples they would receive power from the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses "to the ends of the earth". According to Luke 24:50-51, He was blessing them as He ascended, and Acts 1:9-12 confirms these were His final actions. Please join us this Sunday at 9:00 AM as we observe and formally celebrate this important event!

May the richest blessings the Lord can grant be yours in mind, body and soul!

Today we will conclude our sermon series on 1 Peter entitled "A Living Hope." While the churches Peter wrote to in this letter were not under official persecution by the Roman government, being a Christian during this time still made you subject to abuse and isolation. Many people lost friends and neighbors because they chose to follow Jesus. In what sense are Christians to be counter-cultural? Does suffering have a purpose? Join us at 9 AM and get insight into these important questions! See the bulletin for more information on the service. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1alkv-NKOSIGJ00xSB7TX4JypIo-nyCin/view?usp=sharing

A very blessed Mother's Day to all the women of our congregation! May their patience, hard work and endurance be an inspiration to us all!

The choir continues to practice on Wednesdays at 3:30 PM. Plus, do not forget our Spiritual Gifts Bible Study held immediately after choir at 4:30 PM. Even if you missed the first session, this study will still be of benefit to you. Together, let's uncover the many gifts this congregation has been given through the Holy Spirit!

Our monthly Pizza and a Prayer will be held this Thursday at noon. Please join us for the wonderful food, fun and fellowship! A sign-up sheet is available in the narthex to give us an approximate headcount.

Our WOW group will be selling handmade crafts and bakery at the Okauchee Flea Market held inside the LIon's Park Pavilion next Saturday from 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Signup sheets and instructions are posted in the narthex. Beverages, burgers and brats will also be on sale.

May grace and peace be yours in abundance!

Tomorrow we continue our theme of "A Living Hope" by looking at the first letter of St. Peter to the churches in Asia. Just as infants crave milk, we are called to desire the pure spiritual milk of the Word to grow into our salvation. We are not stagnant believers but active, living stones being built together to serve as a holy priesthood. What is the purpose of God joining us together? How will the Lord use us to build up His Church? Join us tomorrow at 9 AM as we look at these important topics. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yrEWfNvjJXWXCqAfbcpSCh_Ojf01Sjzq/view?usp=sharing

Many thanks to those who volunteered at last Sunday's Community Shrimp Dinner. Thanks to all the helping hands, it was a rousing success! Special thanks goes out to Karen Herbert whose organizational and planning skills made this fundraiser possible! It was great to see our church family pull together for this worthwhile cause. Hopefully, we made some new friends from our surrounding neighborhoods.

Dr. John, a frequent guest of our congregation, underwent hip surgery this past Thursday. He came through the surgery well and is recovering at Oconomowoc Memorial. It is expected that he will return to Shorehaven sometime in the future. Please keep Dr John and his friend Suzzane in your prayers!

The WOW and G-Men's groups will each hold a short meeting after worship tomorrow. Afterward, the Church Council will gather in the library for their monthly meeting.

This Wednesday, we will hold our first Spiritual Gifts Bible Study at 4:30 PM (immediately following choir). Every Christian has been given supernatural gifts through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. These are not natural talents or aptitudes, but gifts sent straight from heaven. If you wish to discover the gifts you have been given for the building up of Christ's Church, please consider attending this study. It is only 4 sessions long and will be held every Wednesday at 4:30 PM during the month of May.

The choir continues to meet on Wednesdays at 3:30 PM. We have a busy month in May, so please plan on attending as many practices as you can!

A new signup sheet for Pizza and a Prayer is in the narthex. It will be held on Thursday, May 14th at noon.

In Peace,
Pastor Mike

Heavenly Father, thank You that through Your mercy, I am part of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and Your own possession. Help me to stand firm on Jesus, the sure cornerstone, so that I may never be put to shame. In His name. Amen.
