With gratitude and some sadness, we give thanks for the ministry of St. Brigid’s in Oceanside. Over the past several years, this community has been a place of belonging, prayer, creativity, and welcome, and through its ministry, lives have been changed, and people have encountered the love of Christ. After a season of prayer and discernment, the organized ministry of St. Brigid’s has now come to a close. We give thanks for all who helped shape this community, for the relationships formed, for the neighbors loved, and for the faithful witness offered in Oceanside. We trust that the joy shared here will continue to bear fruit in the lives of those who were part of St. Brigid’s.

“What do these stones mean to you?”

In 3 years of gathering as a faith community with a heart for exploration and experimentation, we tend to accumulate lots of little tokens along the way. Small and sacred things that remind us of people, places, and moments when the veil between Sprit and flesh became thinner, when the presence of God’s grace became embodied and dwelt among us. We have many such stories, and many precious gifts to help us remember.

The smooth rocks we took from Buccaneer Beach and decorated with our prayers… the Little People that Mia placed on the altar before her baptism… these are like the sacred stones the ancient Hebrews carried into new and unfamiliar places as assurances of God’s promise that followed them wherever they would go.

And as we enter ourselves into new and unfamiliar places, may these holy objects stir up in our hearts the same grace that led us out into the unknown from the beginning.

At St. Brigid’s, the only thing we like better than Dinner Church - is BBQ Dinner Church!

Join us at 5pm this Sunday, July 5th as we break out the grill and enjoy the summer with food, music, prayer, and story sharing. We’ll provide the meats (and veggie options!), so bring a side dish or dessert to share.

We meet each week in the cafe at Oceanside Sanctuary church (204 S Freeman St).

What are the 3 D's? Doubt, Disappointment, and Desolation.

Who hasn't had the experience that God has disappeared, or failed us, or doesn't even exist? And what about the Church? I've experienced church abuse first hand, so I'm not surprised that people aren't very interested in church or don't think traditional religion has anything to offer them.

What if instead of hiding our disappointments and doubts when we gather together, we decided to bring our questions and hurts and even anger with us and speak them out loud? What if nobody gets to interrupt us, correct us, give us advice...what if we just listen to each other with empathy and keep our opinions to ourselves?

No preparation required. You can show up any time. We do the readings together. 

Doesn't take long. We're together for an hour. 

You don't have to go anywhere. We do it via Zoom (info below). 

Anyone can come. You don't have to be a Christian or know anything about the Bible. You can invite anyone. You can share this email.
