Cling to God’s Promises

What do you think about?

The thoughts that fill your mind are crucial because what you cling to influences your worldview.

If you choose to dwell on God’s promises, you start to recognize God’s blessings during uncertain times. Trusting that God will redeem your present pain equips you to walk forward in faith and keep on fighting.

Isaiah 12:2 reminds us that we belong to a God who is faithful to keep His promises. This God rescues us and fights for us. So when we belong to God, we have nothing to fear—all we need to do is cling to Him and wait on Him to act.

So as you walk forward today, reflect on some of God’s promises, and let them transform the way you think:

God will sustain you. (Psalm 55:22)

God’s peace will guard your heart. (Philippians 4:7)

God delights over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)

God will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. (Psalm 32:8)

God is your refuge and strength, your help in times of need. (Psalm 46:1)

In all things, you are more than a conqueror because God loves you. (Romans 8:37)

God will never leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

God’s perfect love casts out all your fear. (1 John 4:18)

Nothing can separate you from God’s love. (Romans 8:38-39)

God’s not done with you. (Philippians 1:6)

Allow these truths to fill your mind today!

Proximity Matters

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭13‬:‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It makes sense, doesn't it? If you surround yourself with people making terrible decisions, it won’t be long before you start acting like them. Or you might be blamed for another's poor decisions simply by association. You will inevitably “suffer harm.”

We always want to love those who are far from God, but there’s a difference between loving someone and joining them. Instead, if you walk with the wise—watching, asking, learning, mimicking—you will also become wise in the process.

So what kind of person do you want to be? And who in your life would you call wise? Maybe it’s a parent, grandparent, pastor, or teacher. Maybe it’s your neighbor, coach, or someone else you admire for all the right reasons.

Whether it’s intentional or not, we are all being discipled by someone. So if you want to walk with the wise, proximity matters.

Meet them for coffee or lunch. Join them on a walk. Invite them into your home. Learn from their experiences. Read the Bible with them. Ask them face-to-face questions.

Like Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise knowledge and insight.”

Turns out, God is the wisest mentor of all. So talk to Him throughout your day, learn from Him by reading Scripture, and spend time with others who also long to be more like Him.

Father, I’ve been looking at the cracks in my life for so long that I forgot You are the Gardener who works best in the broken soil. It’s hard to see the purpose when everything feels fractured, yet here You are, quietly pushing something green and hopeful through the spaces I thought were ruined. I surrender my need to be whole on my own and trust that the beauty You’re growing now is only possible because of where I’ve been broken. Lord, help me stay soft in the waiting and keep my eyes on the life You are bringing forth.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." - Psalm 34:18

Lord, on this Mother's Day, I lift up everyone carrying complicated feelings today, because this day holds so much joy for some and so much ache for others.

Thank You for mothers who love selflessly, who sacrifice endlessly, who shape lives and hearts in ways that echo through generations, bless them and let them feel valued today.

Strengthen single mothers carrying the weight of two parents, exhausted from doing it all, wondering if they're enough, they are doing a braver work than they know.

Be near to those whose arms ache for a child they couldn't have, who've walked the painful road of infertility, who feel this day as a reminder of longing unfulfilled.

Comfort those grieving children they've lost, whether through miscarriage, illness, accident, or circumstances too painful to name, mothers whose children aren't here to celebrate with them today.

Be with mothers who don't know where their children are today, separated by estrangement, distance, addiction, or circumstances beyond their control, still loving, still praying, still hoping.

Hold close everyone mourning their own mother, feeling the emptiness of this first Mother's Day without her, or the hundredth, missing her voice, her presence, her love.

Draw near to those with complicated relationships with their mothers, where this day brings more pain than celebration, where wounds are still open and healing feels far away.

See the stepmothers, foster mothers, grandmothers raising grandchildren, spiritual mothers, and every woman who has mothered someone not born to her, their love counts too.

Let this day hold space for both celebration and grief, for gratitude and longing, for joy and tears, knowing You see every heart and meet each one exactly where they are.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
