HALLOWEEN
TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCES

DEUTERONOMY 18:9-12
“9 When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.
10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices divination or conjury, interprets omens, practices sorcery,
11 casts spells, consults a medium or spiritist, or inquires of the dead.
12 For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD. And because of these detestable things, the LORD your God is driving out the nations before you.”

WHAT IS HALLOWEEN?
Many think that Halloween is simply a night of celebration when children have fun. Those who grew up participating this “entertaining” celebration, going from door-to-door, collecting candies in their bags had no idea the importance of this event.

THE STORY BEHIND IT…
Celts from Northern Europe celebrated 2 annual festivals: Beltane (eve of May 1st and Samhain (eve of November 1st) to mark Summer and Winter seasons.

It was a common belief that, on the eve of Samhain the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead blurred, and the spirits could roam on earth. The souls of those who had died returned to visit their homes and those who died during the year journeyed to the other world. In order to avoid being recognized by ghosts people wore masks and other disguises. Disguises of witches, fairies, goblins and demons. This season was deemed favorable for divination.

Samhain (pronounced “SAH-win” or “SOW-in”) means: Summer’s End in Irish and is an ancient festival marking the end of summer and beginning of winter, celebrated on the evening of October 31st into November 1st. They believed that on that specific evening the boundary between the worlds of the dead and the living became thin allowing spirits and other supernatural beings to manifest. Samhain is the Wiccan New Year, witches, warlocks and all those involved in the Occult celebrate and prepare themselves for this special day for months ahead.

The encyclopedia THE WORLD BOOK says: “Halloween is a festival that takes place in October 31st. In the United States, children wear costumes and go out trick or treating. Many carry Jack-o-Lanterns in the form of pumpkins.” People enjoy listening to scary stories.

In the Irish folklore, Jack-o-Lantern is associated with the legend of Stingy Jack, a man who tricked the devil for monetary gain. According to the legend, Jack, invited the devil for a drink and persuaded him to turn into a coin to pay the bill. When the devil turned into a coin, Jack quickly placed in his pocket beside a silver cross, which prevented the devil escaping The devil was freed only after he promised not to bother jack for a year or claim ack’s soul after death. A year later ack tricked the devil again—this time convincing him to climb a tree for fruit and then carving a cross on the trunk to trap him. Jack released him only after extracting a 10-year reprieve.
Because he was deceitful, Jack was accepted into neither heaven nor hell when he died. Condemned to wander in darkness forever, he was given a glowing coal to light his way.

The Dictionary of the Occult and Paranormal states:
“Originally a pagan festival of darkness, fire and death. All Hallow’s Eve was celebrated by the Celts of Northern Europe… Halloween was also an important date for the witches calendar.”
The Druids were pagan priests of an early Celtic religion that were dreaded for their power and bloodthirstiness, they appeared as lawgivers, and as being directly concerned with animal and human sacrifices; these sacrifices we3re mainly performed on October 31st.
It is believed that some Druids built Stonehenge in England and the temple where they worshiped the sun and did human sacrifices. Though many writers from XVIII and XIX had this conviction, archeological evidence seem to establish that the structure has existed for more than 1,000 years before the Druids. Apparently they used this place for their macabre ceremonies even though they used the forest.
The Druids mysterious ceremonies included the use of a huge carved stone to determine the best day to appease the gods they served. October 31st was the day.
Samhain (the Lord of the dead) was invoked to summon the bad spirits that had passed the year before. The villagers would cringe with fear when these rituals were performed.
Ireland Druids used to visit the cities and surrounding towns on October 31st to collect offerings for Satan. They carried lanterns, money bags, canes known as “goblin sticks,” magic wands, etc. They demanded the offering known as (“penance or treat”) if the demand wasn’t fulfilled they would use the goblin’s stick to castrate the man of the house or one of his precious animals.

Let’s take a look at three words that describe this pagan festival:
DARKNESSFIREDEATH
Who is the prince of darkness, fire and death?
The traditional church commemorates The Day of All Saints which was introduced in the VII Century, originally on May 13th and later changed to November thus “Christianizing” this pagan holiday.
Halloween came about from merging this Occult pagan festival with a Catholic observance.
Another version about All Hallow’s Eve says that when the spirits of the dead were released, they would return to their old houses. People put food and drinks outside the dwelling to protect themselves and their families. This is how it all originated; what people celebrate today.
The participants go from door to door, singing chanting, dancing. Gory masks and hideous costumes are worn to ward off evil or to be a visible representation of ghosts and the underworld. This is what has been transferred to children in the United States and other countries who visit their neighborhood asking for treats ignoring the destruction that this practice entails. This is witchcraft, whether we accept it or not!, an abomination before Almighty G-d. Druids, witches, warlocks, satanists, unbelievers still use this festival as the day to communicate with the dead more effectively.

WHAT A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST IS…
ACTS 11:26
Those in Antioch witnessed they were really followers of Christ.

According to Ephesians 2:2-3

But when we are confronted with sin and evil in our heart, we scream out like the Philippian jailer in ACTS 16:30.
When we are convicted in our heart because of the iniquity we carry we, in like manner will say like in ACTS 2:37
When we realize that G-d oversees the times of our ignorance and tells men everywhere to repent. ACTS 17:30-31
ACTS 2:38 -- There is hope.
ACTS 16:31 BELIEVE!
ROMANS 5:8 Christ died for us.
EPHESIANS 2:8 Saved by Grace.
CORINTHIANS 5:17 New Creation.
ACTS 26:18 WE HAVE BEEN TRASFERRED FROM THE KINGDOM OF DARKENSS TO THE KINGDOM OF LIGHT! Because of His saving Grace.

WHAT DOES A CHRISTIAN REPRESENTS?
Sometimes we forget in whose image we have been made from.
ROMANS 8:29
In 1 PETER 1:14-16 we are encouraged to:
Be holy –
That our bodies are temple of His Spirit, 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19
That He has chosen us EPHESIANS 1:4
Participating in these practices is to dishonor Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is an act of rebellion against His Word and His Sacrifice.

SCRIPTURES THAT CONDEMN SUCH PRACTICES:
EXODUS 22:18
LEVITICUS 19:31
LEVITICUS 20:6
LEVITICUS 20:27
REVELATION 21:8

IF WE BELIEVE AND HONOR THE WORD OF G-D, WE MUST REJECT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT LINKS US TO THE OCCULT. FOR WE ARE:
“HERITAGE OF THE LORD, AND THE FRUIT OF THE WOMB IS HIS REWARD.” PSALM 127:3
In 1 THESSALONIANS 5:22 “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
A TRUE CHILD OF G-D MUST BE KNOWN BY THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT AS STATED IN GALATIANS 5:22
