Our communion liturgy includes, “Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” At first, joyful obedience may seem like a paradox. Worldly obedience is often driven by obligation—following orders we may not agree with from authority figures we may not respect. Kingdom obedience is different. Christ is perfect. His commands are perfect, and they are for our good. As we obey Christ, we draw closer to Him and experience the fruit of that communion: real and lasting joy.

Today we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. On this Memorial Day, may we pause with gratitude for their sacrifice, pray for the families who carry their memory, and seek to live as people who bring hope, peace and love to the world around us.

May God bless and comfort all who mourn, and may we never forget those who served with courage and honor.

Love to sing? Join our Summer Choir! Anyone who enjoys singing is invited to participate—no long-term commitment required. Meet Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in the Choir Room to learn and rehearse the music for that morning's Traditional Worship Service (11:15 a.m.). Come when you can and help lead worship through music this summer!

The gift of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost is something we celebrate, but the gift of the Holy Spirit is not just a one day event. It happens for every person who surrenders their life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We are Holy Spirit people. Those who are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ experience the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. On Pentecost we remember the birth of the church in the gifting of the Holy Spirit as Christ promised would happen. Each day we cultivate this gift and pray, "Come, Holy Spirit, Come!"

Pentecost, celebrated 50 days after Easter, marks the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles. Join us on Sunday to observe this special day in the life of the church as we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and remember God’s work in guiding and strengthening us to share the good news. We invite you to wear red as a symbol of the Holy Spirit’s fire as we worship together.
