9.13.26 The DROP

"I'll be back."

You've heard that line a thousand times.

But two thousand years ago, someone said it... and meant something completely different.

Jesus sat with His closest friends, hours before the cross.

He didn't say "goodbye." He said "I'll be back."

"Let not your hearts be troubled," He told them. "I go to prepare a place for you... and I will come again."

Not a maybe. Not a someday, if things line up.

A promise.

The kind you can build your life on — even when the waiting, the not-knowing, tries to talk you out of it.

Starting this Sunday, we're unpacking what Scripture says about Jesus' return — and what we do until He keeps that promise.

This Sunday — I'll Be Back: He Promised.

John 14, verses 1 through 3.

Are you ready?

Church of Hope. There's a place for you.

That diagnosis.
The abuse.
The grief.
The failure.
The choice you wish you could undo.

It doesn’t get to define you.

Pain may be part of your story, but it doesn’t get to become the title.

What happened to you is real—but it is not all of who you are.

And with Jesus, it is not where your story ends.

When Jesus stood outside Lazarus’ tomb, He said, “Take away the stone.” —John 11:39

The people moved the stone. Jesus did what only He could do.

What stone have you placed in front of your pain—silence, shame, fear or excuses?

Stop hiding it.
Tell the truth.
Ask for help.
Move the stone—and let Jesus into the place you’ve been hiding.

This is the Brandies’ Hope Story.

Some pain changes your life forever. But it doesn’t have to take your hope.

Renee longed to feel wanted, while Evan tried to fill the emptiness with people’s attention, alcohol and other worldly things. Eventually, they realized only Jesus could fill that God-sized void.

After losing Evan’s cousin, they came to Church of Hope wanting to be somewhere he had been. They were welcomed with open arms, and it quickly felt like home.

In 2024, they experienced the unimaginable loss of their son, Harlow, after an accidental drowning.

No child or parent should ever experience this, but accidental drownings are more common than many realize. That’s why Evan and Renee started Harlow’s Helping Hands—to raise awareness, equip families and help protect other children.

Through the hardest season of their lives, they held on to Jesus. Now, the Brandies are living our mission: discovering that in Christ, we have hope.

We love you, Evan and Renee. Thank you for sharing your Hope Story.

Been stuck for years?

The length of your problem does not determine the limits of God’s power.

Keep believing. Keep trusting. Jesus has power over time.

A long problem is never a strong problem when Jesus enters the story.

“Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.’ At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.” - John 5:8–9 NIV

09/03/2026

You’ve told people you’re fine so many times, you almost believe it.

Meanwhile, you’re running on four hours of sleep and a group chat you don’t answer honestly.

That’s not strength. That’s just really good hiding.

Here’s the thing about pain: it doesn’t go away because you ignore it. It just moves into your body, your marriage, your kids.

Jesus never told anyone to just get over it. When a friend of His had been dead four days, He didn’t hand out an explanation. He stepped into the pain, and then He did something about it.

That’s the invitation this Sunday. Not more hustle. Not more hiding. An actual answer for the thing you’ve been carrying alone.

The Rabbi continues: Pain and Healing. John 11, verses 21 through 23.

What in your life feels like it’s not enough?

Your career? Your finances? Your time? Your strength?

Maybe you feel overwhelmed, anxious or stressed.

Put what feels like “not enough” into the hands of Jesus.

Little becomes enough when placed in His hands.
